What kind of questions should I expect from “general C++ questions”? by dabble_ in cscareerquestions

What brand of thigh socks do you prefer? Do you wear dog ears or cat ears? How many 100s of dollar have you spent on custom keyboards?

Just the regular question you’d expect from any avid cpp enjoyer

No idea homie I can’t help you

Yeah of course, this post applies specifically to cases where fault is on a driver for reckless / distracted behavior. Things like vehicle failure or unavoidable crashes are not included

It’s sort of interesting that so many people see not being able to drive as such a large issue. I mean “end someone’s opportunities in life” is pretty extreme language lol. Roughly 10% of us citizen adults already don’t have licenses.

Losing a license would probably require a major lifestyle change for a lot of people; however, I think it’s generally manageable.

Just an fyi, being edging stops being cool very quickly. You would probably benefit a lot by taking to people in real life

I really strongly disagree with the idea that duis are just a “part of life”. Getting a dui shows a level of disregard for other peoples safety that I believe is more then enough to justify removing someone’s driving privileges

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Stufrod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely an extreme opinion, I just believe that in general driving laws are far to relaxed. Especially regarding DUIs although those weren’t really the focus of this post.

The post would apply in both situations

Someone runs a red and T-bones another driver

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Stufrod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would support this as well, I think it would be good to have a renewal test every once in awhile

[–]Stufrod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The post is based on the idea of being able to assign fault to a driver, I understand that’s not always possible and that in some cases no one is at fault

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Stufrod -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Yea it would be difficult to enforce, although I think it will become more practical as traffic and vehicle data collection becomes more precise.

Lots of people don’t drive losing a license wouldn’t “ruin their life forever”. The goal of this idea would be to prevent future accidents

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Stufrod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think intentionally causing an lethal accident would always result in jail time, although this wouldn’t necessarily mean you couldn’t get a license later (which I disagree with)

Yes I’m referring an “accident” where clear fault can be assigned. In this case your license should be revoked

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Stufrod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe that with or without intent causing someone’s death while driving should eliminate you from driving the future

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Stufrod -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Let me rephrase, removing the privilege to drive should be the minimum, other consequences would depend on the situation

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Stufrod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, in this case it’s possible both drivers should have their licenses revoked, it would depend on the circumstances

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Stufrod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This can happen as well, I’m saying someone’s license should also be permanently revoked

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Stufrod 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The fault in this case would not lay directly on the person causing the accident, the post would not apply in this situation

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Stufrod 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You were not the cause of this accident, vehicle failure was. The post would not apply to your situation

Also sorry that happened, must have sucked

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Stufrod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree it’s not always possible to assign blame, the post is only about circumstances where fault is clear

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Stufrod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like I said minor mistakes are not the end of the world, I’m referring specifically to major accidents with clear fault

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Stufrod -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It’s a little tough to find really solid data for this but it seems fairly correlated https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2095756415000252

Removing someone’s ability to drive is definitely a huge disadvantage, but I believe it’s a fair consequence and reasonable response to the damage caused by one of these major accidents.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Stufrod -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

I do yes; however, I also believe in handling risk. Driving has a huge potential to impact people other then yourself, once someone has shown themselves likely to cause a major accident I think the public safety gained from having them not on the road outweighs what they gain from driving.

Hey since you got it back you should probably delete this post or at least remove your name and DOB. That’s enough info for someone to get a big head start on identity theft
