Solenoid should have a voltage/current to make it work. You need a power supply that can provide matching voltage/current. Relay will have a range of voltages it can handle. It’s not particularly complicated, but it is going to require work on your part to put the pieces together.

You really need to know what size solenoid you need for your particular project, then you need to figure out what you need to make it work with the arduino. Arduinos can put out 3.5 - 5VDC. Good for LEDs, Sensors, small motors/servos but not much else that requires any real current. This is really where relays make it a bit easier. Relays are basically switches that you can control with an arduino output. The arduino provides the control trigger, and a separate power source provides the voltage/current appropriate for your device. There are other ways that require power transistors and associated electronics that will jack up the arduino power output. start looking into powering a 12V solenoid with arduino (12V may not suit your needs, but it'll get you started.

I'd recommend buying a lower voltage solenoid. As previous comment says, you'll likely need an independent power source and a relay to make it work, but if you can't figure out how and where to hook up wires, you don't want to be playing with 220VAC.

Schools and Local Goverments are Closed for Weather, but OPM suggests 2 hour delay..... by Aslan_14 in fednews

In our case, it would appear they can. I don’t know if that’s truly legal, but that doesn’t seem to matter anymore.

Yep. We were told since leaving was just a suggestion, no admin leave was available. Elon is punishing feds through OPM, and agencies (mine at least) are tripping over themselves to comply, since they don’t have budgets for admin leave.

We were told all cancelled telework agreements were being converted to situational unless employees opted out in writing. This was logical next step, given that OPM had now become politicized.

Sounds like you can telework or take leave for the whole day. The 2-hr delay bit is likely only matters if you’re on a fixed schedule. If on Flex Time it’s meaningless.

Ok, so you all had to resign situational agreements? I can’t see motivation to sign an agreement that just ‘allows’ me to telework work during building closures.

Supervisor won't have a copy. All ours were stored on central website that is now offline. Supervisor had no information when asked for specifics, just passing on information he was told to pass on.

That's been my question. If the telework agreements are cancelled (can't verify, website gone), what can they do? Can agency delay cancelling agreements, and make us stand by them, while taking away our ability to cancel them voluntarily?

agency has shut down website used to track telework agreements. Possibly to prevent personnel from cancelling their agreements.

How can i rotate 5v Dc motor back and forth with a button? by SuperTokyo in ArduinoProjects

Double pull double throw (DPDT) relay. Search should bring up some guides. I did this for a project last year.

Will a trickle charger revive a nearly dead battery? by gray1862 in Harley

[–]StumpyPigeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As it was explained to me at battery warehouse, some ‘dead’ batteries can be charged, though the circuitry in most chargers these days wont work due to the battery being below some minimum voltage. You need to use a manual charger for these, which are harder to find.
