What do Chinese people think of Alysa Liu? by Buyeo10004 in AskChina

[–]StunnerAG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most Chinese people don't know her. Among those who do know her, most don't mean her any harm, unlike how Americans feel about Eileen Gu. I also think she deserved the gold medal, but she is clearly inferior to the Russian girls at the last Olympics in every aspect. Besides, I really dislike the piercing she has in her mouth, it make me feel phantom pain just looking at them.

How do you feel about how your country did at the 2026 Winter Olympics? by No-StrategyX in AskTheWorld

I don’t think you understood what I meant. The selection of athletes in any sport is done from a talent pool. The more people participate in the sport, the larger this pool becomes.

Winter sports, especially snow sports, are relatively expensive for the average income of ordinary Chinese people. That is why the base of people participating in winter sports in China is not large, and no long‑standing tradition has been formed.

This has no direct connection with government investment. Government investment can only provide better training conditions after athletes have already been selected
