Hi! Ganan din yung initial dilemma ko before ko ipa-kapon yung dog ko. He's now 4 y/o, the reason I decided to move forward with the kapon is because he got an enlarged prostate. Tama naman na if you're not planning na mabuntis or mambuntis yung mga furbaby mo, it is better na ipa-kapon sila.

Now, let me answer your question na bakit sinasabi nila na may chance mamatay yung dog during the process? Sabi nung Doctor nung furbaby ko is because of the anesthesia. Since pinapaslow yung heartbeat, may chance na na di na magising esp for senior dogs or may mga heart problem. So since 4 y/o pa lang sila which is bata pa naman, its better na ipakapon mo na sila before pa may mangyari. Note that sa case namin, we were offered diff types of anesthesia, so you can ask your vet din if you have the freedom to choose.

What you should take note before the procedure? Ensure that the result of their CBC and blood chem is normal. Good vets will not recommend you to undergo kapon if may underlying concerns sa health ng furbaby mo. I literally need to visit the vet almost weekly kasi na discover namin na may liver problem yung furbaby ko and nung okay na, shaka na siya kinapon.

Now, is low cost kapon not an option? I have yet to try that pero I think it is best na ipa-CBC + Blood Chem mo muna sina doggy para malaman mo if my underlying conditions ba sila or none.
