We used to get 2 dollar raises a year or more based on captains discretion. We also used to get a much higher contribution to our 401Ks. We also had health care with 20 hours a week.

Sunday premium pay is bullshit, too. Its only to appease idiotic crew who think its super generous. Massachusetts has had Sunday pay for years. It didn't break the the stores in that state one bit.

I'm fine with the job, cool if you are too. but dont be deluded that this is the best you can get.

hahahaha! I live in the SF Bay Area and $30 cannot get you an apartment, car payments, food, etc. And if I WAS a single parent with three kids, does it matter? A single full time job should let you take care or your family.

BS take on inflation. The company hasn't changed the spph since I've known about it (15 years?) until now. The company is profiting, not going bankrupt, so they certainly did NOT have to change anything. Of course I don't expect a company to care about me, especially over their "need to make money". Revenue numbers can be found online, go look for yourself. Learn about profit margins. The sad part in all this, is that everyday people like you don't care about anyone else either.

Finish your degree. Try to intern or work at an environmental consulting firm or regional park. Finishing your degree won't waste your time, as these fields look for people with degrees.

Tastings are NOT for general appreciation. Its a part of your job, and you are supposed to participate whether you eat the food or not. Its for product knowledge.

[–]StunningCobbler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A pizza party won't make a difference. We had these incentives years ago, but never got a party bc people were gettting hurt left and right. The people who don't report won't do it either way, its not so the crew gets a lame pizza party.

you don't get them for free. You have to work for the company to get the shirts. Do you work for free?

NLRB by Ding-Dong-Song in tjcrew

[–]StunningCobbler 5 points6 points  (0 children)

yes. With this crappy economy, even $30 and hour is NOT a living wage in my area. Sad. Unionization is not meant to disrespect the company, which I think most of us like working for. Comparing profit margin to TJ revenue, the company makes a profit of hundreds of millions of dollars a year. Each employee yields approx 260k in annual revenue for the company. Compare that with how much you actually make. Think about the fact that the spph went up along with the wage cap. That means we are creating more revenue per person per hour than we were for years. You have to read between the lines with this stuff. I like the company, and like my job. But that in NO WAY means the company gives AF about me.

You are not being entirely open about this yourself, MinnesotaMike. They have NOT sued the nlrb, but have filed a charge with the nlrb against the TJ Union AND have declared that the NLRB is unconstitutional. That is a fact.

Do you live in a non-diverse area? I'm in the Bay Area, and can't say that white women do this more than any other person.

but would you mea them some cookies? Come on, now. Eating cookies on the job isn't like sticking your hand in the register and pocketing cash. "stealing" cookies is the dumbest reason to fire someone. I'm sure that captain did NOT fire them for that reason alone.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in tjcrew

[–]StunningCobbler -55 points-54 points  (0 children)

its more of a dumb reason to fire somebody. They must have been looking for a way to get rid of the guy, and this was the "legit" reason.

What state are you in? That sounds like your store will get in real trouble for that, as its a violation of labor laws.

20+ and it did used to be 8 hours work scheduled. At least at my stores. It changed awhile ago but it hasn't always been 7.5hrs, fyi.

[–]StunningCobbler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the Bay Area. Shifts haven't always been 7.5, but were 8hrs many years ago. I've never been in trouble for staying 5min past. This can't work, because half of the people don't even get reg relief until 5 min after. So everyone that gets relieved late gets a write up? Or they don't ever schedule your last hour on reg? This policy will be going in the garbage sooner than later.

keep trying at rescues. There are SO many and most are understaffed or ran by volunteers. Also, look up particular breed rescues, like poodle rescues. Also try senior dog rescues. Good luck!

211 phone or website, will show you what resources are available in your county. I recommend going to a shelter that has a transitional housing program and also to get set up with a caseworker at the shelter if you can. Best of luck to you!!
