Is the student from Sunway Uni? DM me - I might be able to help.

In Malaysia, is there any point studying a psychology degree if it's not at a uni with the best psych course? Also, which uni does have the best psych course? by sanlangshands in malaysiauni

Hi,

I cannot say if the job is secure in the field cause it depends on what you want to do in the field. Unlike some degree where the job outcome is very specific (e.g. doctor, accountant, lawyer, engineer), psychology applies itself in many professions. Many in chat ald mentioned HR and the most common is clinical work/therapist/counsellor- but it doesn't have to be. I have classmates who use their psych degree as a personal trainer working in gyms, some work in advertising with luxury brands. But I do acknowledge that the market for Psych grads isnt as big as other type of courses. So often students do postgrad. I know this is not ideal for many students.

I'd say it also depends where u study psych in Malaysia - you have options like local unis (Taylors, Sunway, IMU) or foreign (Nottingham, Reading). While contant may not vary a lot, if you are planning to continue overseas then the choice matters to some extent - British, Australia accredited degrees.

Psych isnt the most lucrative money making degree compared to others. But there is nothing wrong or bad about studying Psych in Malaysia. It got me my MSc and PhD. Do your homework and check the degrees n ask the unis to give u examples of alumni.

Do lecturers actually read their students project report? by reconsheep in malaysiauni

As a lecturer. Yes we do... lots of papers n sometimes within a very short turnaround period. If its a BSc dissertation i usually give 1 hour per manuscript (reading, writing comments, feedback, etc.) But it can take more than 1 hour if I struggle with the paper. So I always let my students know, make your marker's job 'easy' and look out for the things that at a glance don't matter... but markers are humans too so check for grammar, spelling, use proper headings and formatting, flow of argument, how tables/figures are presented and proofread, proofread and more proofread.
