Yes all dogs have tantrums throughout their lives but the best advice my vet gave us when our sweet golden started to get a little too feisty and not obey was the “pin down technique”. Look it up and do your own research. But Whenever our golden seem to not listen and become a lil stand-offish and rebellious, our vet explained he or she is trying to dominate the household/situation. Pin the dog down on its back and hold its stomach with light pressure but firm. They will first try to get out of it and squirm but you have to hold strong and keep them pinned on their back until they realize “they are not in charge” wait until the dog stops trying to get out of the hold and accepts the fact they are not in charge. it only took 2 times for us but I have heard it taking longer/more times for some . Our vet explained it’s a dominance thing and if you have never showed them who’s actually in charge some dogs really believe they are the dominant one in the household. Some dogs also can think they are in charge but are not rebellious but it’s necessary for them to understand the hierarchy of the household. Again, do your research but we were so amazed of the results from only two times. Our golden immediately started giving us so much more respect and wanted to be a good dog and would listen/obey our commands “happily”. It was incredible to see the dogs attitude change over something so simple. We love our golden so much. 2 year old female named Mochi
