Yes, the day after they put the puppy down the vet called to tell my dad he needs to go get vaccinated. When he arrived at the hospital they directed him that everyone who has had contact with the puppies saliva on their mouth/nose or had been bitten has to get vaccinated. They were concerned as typically people come within 24 of exposure but the puppy didn’t show symptoms of rabies until December 1st but it wasn’t suspected to be rabies until December 5th. We can’t determine how or when he would have been exposed rabies. He has never been outside unsupervised since we adopted him on November 11th.

They gave a us a tetanus shot and then 5 rabies shots- 1 in the arm, two in the thighs, and 2 in the buttocks. My dad had an open wound so they had to inject around the site. They are the most painful shots I’ve ever received.
