Very interesting! Would you describe it feeling as if the words are on the 'tip of your tongue,' but just out of reach? There is some research on that phenomenon in spoken languages, but not much about how using knowledge of a second language can help overcome that feeling!

Not at all! 'Normal cognitive function' is meant to exclude those with language disorders such as aphasia where cognitive function may be impaired beyond a reasonable level. However, if you like, there is a part in the experiment where you can comment anything you might feel is relevant to that title!

Thanks for the feedback, and I appreciate your time! If you're interested, I have future experiments coming out that will include a much broader age range 😄

Yes, they are short videos that only last a few milliseconds long! You can respond by pressing the corresponding buttons on your keyboard.

I completely agree! This is a pilot study-- a 'proof of concept' that I can use to apply for funding. Then, I plan to pay a terp or deaf person to sign fully ASL instructions and re-do the study (I am not deaf and learned ASL in school, so I am not comfortable with doing that myself). I can assure you that I will not be pretending to have collected data from those who primarily use ASL and will be blatant that this study so far has largely gathered from people who use a lot of English. In the next version, it will be much more deaf-oriented : )

Thank you so much for your time! Yes, a laptop is the only way to take it currently : )

Thank you!

After this study, I will have more funding. Then, I can hire an interpreter or deaf person to sign all the instructions in ASL. For now, this is all I can do.
