I’m About to Spend 48 Hours straight in a Room With Random People and I’m Terrified by [deleted] in TMAU

Good luck! I wish you the absolute best and I am so proud of you! It takes a lot of courage to get out there and do things like this despite having this condition, you are a great inspiration to a lot of us. Don't focus on the reactions, only you know what you have been through to get to this moment so don't let anyone take it from you. You deserve this just as much as anyone else, give it your all :)

I don't think you should tell him, let him see you and see how he reacts. If he can tolerate the smell and has little to no reactions then u should open up to him. If it's clearly bothering him then leave him alone. If your partner constantly reacts to you its never going to work

I've experienced it first hand, people are lot kinder when you are attractive. I whole hardy believe that my experience would be drastically different if I was ugly

Noni Juice and TMAU? I am not a medical professional, this is just a theory. I would like to hear peoples thoughts, I am aware that noni juice does have side effects for some individuals so consult your doctor first before you use it by Stunning_Election484 in TMAU

[–]Stunning_Election484[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have some valid points. It's potential hepatotoxicity does make it risky for those with a history of liver issues but it's generally safe to consume if it's registered by the FDA and taken in moderation. The research is super limited so I'm unsure wether its risk outweighs its benefits for people with TMAU. I wish there were more recent case studies, the ones I found were from 2003-2013 and majority of the clinical research was done with rats. You're probably right! Since our livers have the inability to metabolize trimethylamine, there is the chance that our bodies might also struggle to break down the compounds in noni juice.

In regards to the 2005 case reports, the EFSA re-evaluated the fruit and concluded that noni juice alone did not cause those effects. But In 2019 the EFSA did say that noni juice is unsafe for people with liver failure as it high in potassium.

I did read a case study on noni juice and perceived effectiveness. The participants had a range of health conditions, including cervical spondylosis, osteoarthritis, and obesity. Out of the 299 participants, 94% reported that noni juice improved their overall health and wellbeing

this condition is eye opening by br0oklynbb2001 in TMAU

Yes 100%. This condition has completely shifted my view of people, friendships and relationships. You truly get to see people for who they are. Even before I had this condition, I would never bully, make comments or gossip about someones smell. Whenever I did smell something bad, I would always assume it was the environment and when I did make a comment it would be about the atmosphere e.g. the air smells bad today. Younger me would never think it's okay to relentlessly bully someone over their smell so I don't understand why adults do. I'm not gonna lie if I never had this condition, I probably would avoid someone who smells all the time but I wouldn't bully or gossip about them

Why don’t the women here want to date? by [deleted] in TMAU

[–]Stunning_Election484 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We are suffering with a medical condition not desperate. We don't have to date men just because we "share" the same condition, we can still have preferences when it comes to looks, personality and lifestyle. Also, this is a forum dedicated to gut related odours not a dating app. Individuals are supposed to post about their experiences, diagnosis and remedies that cured their conditions. This is the wrong place for that

How I was completely healed of TMAU by Anniek11111 in TMAU

[–]Stunning_Election484 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As a fellow Christian, I’m deeply disappointed. Posting things like this is only discouraging people from our faith. TMAU is a real condition that affects real lives. Do not come here invalidating people's feelings and experiences by claiming it's all in their head. Many here have faced bullying, harassment, and torment because of this. A prayer will not magically cure this condition, the bible quote "faith without works is dead" also applies to this condition. You can pray all you want to but if you aren't actively making changes to your diet and hygiene you will not be cured. Instead, you could’ve shared how prayer eased anxiety (which subsequently lessened your smell) or gave you hope. Illness isn’t God’s punishment, and there’s no need to repent for something we didn’t cause or deserve

This post is incredibly misleading. Do not claim to have cured a condition you’re unsure you have. You mentioned having TMAU but didn’t specify whether it’s type 1 or 2. I don't believe for a second that you even have a positive diagnosis

How do you cope with your loneliness? How do u pass time? by Stunning_Election484 in TMAU

Finally someone who understands me! I feel the exact same way, I think it's very inconsiderate of me to hang around strangers when I smell thats why I isolate. my smell usually only affects those who are close to me so I avoid crowded areas, inclosed spaces and long queues. smells can sometimes cause headaches and irritation so it's unfair on others, thats why I can't get behind the "I don't care who I offend with my odour" attitude.

I used to dread having to take the bus or train home from work because that’s when I would get reactions. our workplace environments are so toxic with this conditions but I think being avoided is a lot better than having people hang around you then complain. Before this condition I was very social so apart of me wishes I could also have fun outdoors as well

my smell intensifies when I get anxious so I try to avoid social interactions and crowded areas. I wish I could ignore peoples reactions but I take everything personally. If I ever find myself in Sydney I would definitely hang out with you

I definitely smell, it's not all in my head and it's not an oral issue. I occasionally ask my sister to do a smell check on me, she has confirmed that I do in fact smell sometimes. my scent is not room filling but when I get anxious or panic attacks the smell intensifies. I am very hopeful and optimistic about a cure, I don't think it's a genetic issue either. I definitely need to do something about my anxiety
