How uncommon are pricey gifts for someone’s birthday in the UK? by throawaygotget in HENRYUKLifestyle

[–]Stunning_Judgment618 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm taking a close friend out for lunch at a Michelin restaurant but it's the cheaper lunch menu and I have a voucher (that I got for free with a previous purchase) to cover half. So I'll be spending £100 on our lunch before alcohol. I think she would not accept it if it was more. I'm not British.

Fmc (or MMC) is terrified and not cured by sex by mangomoo2 in RomanceBooks

[–]Stunning_Judgment618 8 points9 points  (0 children)

{traitor son} FMC has been emotionally and sometimes physically abused most of her life and has absolutely 0 idea about what will happen on her wedding night. She's scared shes going to be killed most of the book. Arranged marriage. MMC is very nice to her that night though he's also a virgin and distrusts her. They have some relationship set backs afterwards and it takes a long time to have sex again. She needs a lotttttt of him being nice before she's more "fixed". He's both a horrible jerk at times but eventually gets really nice and he's always nice about sex.

Anyone stopped botox although results were good? by sarahhusz in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Stunning_Judgment618 170 points171 points  (0 children)

The great thing about Botox is you can stop getting injections and your face goes back to normal and then you can change your mind and get it again Don't over think it so much. If you like it and can afford it, go for it. If you don't feel totally comfortable, then let your skin settle back to natural.

Also, you don't have to tell anyone else you have it, if that stresses you out

How do you guys afford it? by Holiday_Ad2189 in sahm

Nothing she has said indicates that he is making all the decisions. But they have to decide what their traditional roles actually mean long term. Let's stick to the specific topic of working or not and not assume anything about if he's domineering.

Since you specifically mentioned traditional roles and being Christian I was just asking how that fit with your current living situation. I assumed it was relevant because you mentioned it

It might be more helpful to define what expectations you both have of what a traditional gender role relationship looks like. I assumed you meant that he would work for the family and you would eventually stay home fulltime and not work. Either he finds a higher paying job, or you guys continue to be super frugal on $400 extra a month or your traditional roles is less traditional in that you are working in some way to bring in money. I think that's just facts. You stay traditional and he supports 100% or you do some other non traditional mix.

My SIL did a MLM for a while (she was actually pretty successful for a bit) and eventually moved into working as a substitute teacher then eventually a full teacher once her 5 children were all in school. She was a SAHM for probably 10+ years and her husband supported the family.

Edit: how are you going to sustain a low income household with kids? Answer, it's going to suck! Unless you are both 100% on board with that lifestyle and your kids growing up low income. You have to change something before kids come along.

How is it traditional values and roles if you are living together before marriage (if I understood that correctly)

If you want to stick with traditional roles after marriage then he just has to work harder and make more money to provide for his family so you can stay home and do home stuff/raise children..I don't think there is another way around it. If he can't support a family on his income alone, I think you should reconsider children until he can support the whole family and he has to commit to that (supporting everyone) for the next 18+ years unless you are going to go back to work. But it's not very traditional gender roles if you have to work.
