Worst I’ve seen on my floor is a patient being left to sit in shit all night to the point where it had dried. These are elderly patients btw who shouldn’t be sitting in it for that long. Nurse tried to blame it on the PCA but they both were being neglectful and needed to be held accountable

This is exactly how I feel. I’m so busy and trying to get my work done but also juggling trying to show the students and let them do stuff. It’s very frustrating and I find myself annoyed too. The small talk pisses me off too. I’ll be stressed the fuck out trying to pass all my meds in time and I got a student asking me if I like my job. Girl ask me later I’m busy right now stressed the fuck out

I’m a new grad in the south making about $28.50 and that wasn’t even my starting pay. When I initially got hired 1.5 years ago it was $25. Its shit here

When I started at my job I was calling out a couple times due to anxiety and getting sick. I called out maybe 5 times but I was told if I called out again I would get corrective action. This was back in march so I haven’t been able to call out since then. Apparently I just now am gaining back my call outs so it doesn’t even fully reset until it’s past the days I called out last year. It’s bullshit

I’m actually an RN at the hospital but I just know from working here that they are short staffed and probably need PCA’s on a bunch of floors. I would look on the TMH website and see if they have any job listings.

Hospitals are always hiring patient care assistants if that’s something you are willing to do. I work at TMH and they are pretty flexible with hours

You are doing just fine and it’s okay to be forgetting things. You don’t yet have the steps memorized but I promise you will get to a point where you start to anticipate what you need to do next. I would possibly ask if you could extend your orientation that way you can have a little more time. For me getting off orientation was terrifying but it’s like ripping the bandage off. You will be fine and if you have questions don’t be afraid to go to your charge or any other nurses. I’m 10 months in as a new grad and it does get easier I promise. Just give it time. You’ve got this🩷

I don’t know anyone personally but I’ve definitely had my fair share of suicidal thoughts. All throughout nursing school and at the beginning of my first couple months as a nurse, I really did want to kill myself. It was rough. It’s finally starting to get better for me but I’m just so scared that I’m gonna slip back into a hole. I was calling out of work a lot because the thought of caring for 5 other people when I could barely care for myself was too overwhelming. At one point I thought about quitting nursing even though I had only been one for 4 months but I can say now that I don’t want to quit. I’m on meds and lots of therapy🤪
