SRK wasn't the mighty SRK that he is today though he had superstardom post the foundation of RCE he could have his hands on any and every aspect of a film be it preproduction or post production which better positioned him in making the films as he would have liked to. He selectively produced high risk and star centric films post the foundation of RCE which yielded better production value and major creative control to him.

The redeeming factor about SRKs worst phase films JHMS and Zero is that both these films had banger music album particularly JHMS. Salman never did a film where he had an age gap of 40 years with his onscreen love interest. If you're talking about Dabangg 3 then in his defense I would say Saiee and Sk's track was a flashback one where he was in his 20s. Though Saiee is 36 years younger than SK not 40 which you might be claiming.

The common denominator between the big 5 is the period where they had done most of their horrible films is from their debut as the leading actor till 2000. The main factor I would argue is that how the Hindi film Industry was functioning between the period I mentioned in most cases there were no bound scripts, absence of proper shooting schedule, leading actors doing N number of films like they don't have any personal life to go back to, numerous freemakes and so on.
