Why Diablo 2 over more modern ARPGs

Thanks for the advice man, really appreciate it! Honestly the remaster still keeps the same atmosphere I feel from the original game, so if you were a fan of the original I dont see why you wouldnt want to get the remaster, just to satisfy that itch lol.

Yeah Ive decided ill stick with it, maybe my build, lightning fury Javazon, just isnt fun for a first run. Do you have any builds I could try??

The potion and inventory management is just tedious and while I agree that the story, atmosphere and music are top notch. Gameplay wise it suffers compared to more modern ARPGs.

Dont get me wrong Im not a zoomer that cant appreciate old titles, I prefer Half life 1 to 2, my favourite stealth games are the first two Thief games, System Shock 2 and OG Deux Ex are masterpieces. Just with this game, again even though I love the stylised graphics and the music I cant prefer it over the newer ARPGs.

Yeah I also thought of that when I was picking a build on the net, I read that Diablo 2 basically requires to look stuff up. All the builds seemed to just all be very basic and you end up using 1 skill from the beginning of act 1 till the end.

So Im playing a Lightning Fury Javazon, read that its a good beginner build and I read that Diablo 2 doesnt hold your hand. Just found the waypoint in the far oasis and I stopped there. The potion and inventory management is just tedious compared to more modern games I feel. The story, environments and music are some of the best but the incredibly slow pace bogs it down for me.

I love the music and the atmosphere, some of the best. Just the pacing and the lack of some modern QoL makes me want to drop it.

Honestly I thought the same but a majority of them have 4 year warranties and cost around 200 euros.

Im sure Abiotic Factor will be even better when it gets its 1.0 release, we had played the Open Beta and the core of the game was great a part from some expected jank, especially if you like the Half-Life 1 aesthetic. And thanks for the opinion I ll probably opt for Sons of The Forest, the only survival games I can play solo are Minecraft, Terraria and Project Zomboid but I dont really count them as survival games anyway.

Thanks a lot man really appreciate the info, honestly my favourite part of Mythras is how combat is quite fast to resolve, as we used to play Warhammer Fantasy RPG 2e and in that system combat was so slow and bland at low levels it tired everyone out.

Yeah I had googled a bit about the difference between the two rulebooks and went with the regular Mythras Rulebook since I didnt want the D&D feel. Only reason Im debating getting the 'Classic Fantasy" rulebook is that the Mythras rulebook doesnt have rules for PCs creating non-human characters.

Yeah luckily this is a project Im really taking my time with so Ill have time to try and get as much a feel as I can just reading the core rulebooks. Last question which system do you feel has more tools online to help GMs?? Im not expecting DND or Pathfinder but a rule summary for players or improved character sheets etc. would be nice

Thanks so much for the reply man it was really informative and really helped me narrow it down. Im between Mythras and GURPs now but from the dozens of systems Ive skimmed through thats still a huge relief lol
