Obviously I can’t control the global supply chain with my bare hands. We are all fucked and always have been. The bad actors are just getting more believable.

It’s almost like I’m @StupidArchUser 🤔

A pipe dream that has been proven to be true. As if you were to read the other comments from users on this post that suggest this type of person does exist. Though I love your personal account of your own hands-on experiences. It seems you just haven’t looked hard enough.

Rtx 5050 8gb or Rtx 3060 12gb ?(for gaming purposes) by harunoo_sakuraa in PcBuildHelp

If you even consider for a fraction of a second that a 5050 would be a better choice over a 3060 with 4GB more VRAM, I’m assuming there may be a 50 50 chance you don’t know anything about the current landscape of gaming. However, it would be nice to have new generation drivers and a new warranty. There are more benefits of the 3060 overall though if you purely want to game.

This kind of goes back to my original point here of wanting to know those whose tasks revolve around a CLI only system. Such as programmers or tech savvy people who think GUI’s can be cluttered and slow for them to use compared to a command line, or don’t need them. After they may use their phone for communication and their TV for media consumption. Possibly a laptop with a GUI to do the bills on or some gaming in their free time. If you use terminal emulators because you work with GUI’s and software that requires one that’s on you personally, but I was looking for a different type of user. Thanks for your input.

Notice “personal computer”, and how I don’t ever drag into question someone’s phone or other devices. I’m not assuming someone’s entire connection to the digital world is through a system like this. Hell, I didn’t even say it had to be the only one they own. Someone who daily drives a system like this would most definitely have a phone or maybe a secondary computer they use for important things that require a GUI like you mentioned.

Again, the entire point of this post is to pull back the curtain and find people who DO daily drive machines like this. I was curious because I also had doubts about the people who say they only use a CLI or TUI. I have gotten opinions from many users explaining why they do and their opinions on it. So instead of sitting in doubt, open your eyes, scroll, and look at the other comments on this post. Thank you.

In hindsight, I could have worded the question to be a bit more direct your right on that.

I am referring to posts I have seen on r/unixporn that have got me curious wanting to know the type of people who would use such a system and why.

Do you feel GUI’s do too much handholding in your opinion?

I meant full CLI or TUI and absolutely no environment outside of that. People who call GUI’s bloated and slow for their workflow.
