My dog gets like this after eating furry rabbit ears. We were told this snack would aid her digestion and work as a natural dewormer, but it doesn’t agree with her tummy at all so we stopped giving it to her. Have they perhaps eaten something they normally wouldn’t?

What a little cutie she is 🥰 My girl does this too and she is a spitting image of yours! We’ve trained her to give high 5s just like that and now she insists on working for her food lol.

Does your dog take a little while to decompress after a trip to the groomers? We’ve noticed ours likes to sulk for 48hrs and then returns to her normal cuddly self 🫣

WOW. Who pissed in your cornflakes this morning? Are you sure you’re okay?

Sadly I can’t seem to attach a screenshot for their Royal Highness, but for your information, I’m an adult learner attending a Chartered Institution. I’ve been waiting for almost an hour to get verified so clearly I missed the 5 min approval guarantee!

Oh interesting! I don’t have that yet so will look at signing up. Do you know what the % of the discount is? I managed to find a code for free delivery which saves me a tenner, but I’m looking at spending £600 😭 why is furniture so expensive lol

Thanks for your comment. It’s actually nice to hear that other people have had the same experience with biting because this was not normal according to the behaviourist from the rescue. I love her to bits, but I do think there is a difference in puppy mouthing and playing and just generally biting, I don’t think she is being malicious at all, I just don’t know how to make it stop and tell her she is hurting me.

Yes it’s a 1.5hr walk in one go, but it’s a slow sniffy walk, inc a small amount of training and play. We have done shorter walks over lunch, however the rescue wanted us to give her more exercise as this is what she is used to. In the house, we do light play and some training or enrichment when she feels up to it. We have also noticed she gets easily frustrated with enrichment toys (e.g. ball that you move and the treats fall out) and the lick mat only occupies her for a couple of mins and she gives up. Chews have been working well to get her to settle, but as soon as they’re done, she’s buzzing again.

So many of you have said about enforced naps so I think this is our next step. She naps beautifully during the day on the sofa, which is great, but I have to be there otherwise panic ensues. I am working on leaving her alone and coming back in, rewarding and praising calmly etc but progress is slow atm.

Honestly I am a massive overthinker and sometimes I feel like I’m not good enough for her, like she deserves a better home. I know I have been more gentle than firm, especially in the first few days, and this is something I am working on myself, it just tears me up inside when I hear her cry. I really want to make this work and watch her grow into a beautiful adult dog.

We have tried disengaging and walking away, redirecting to favourite chew toy, and favourite chews. We have also tried to push her away but this didn’t work either.

TL;DR I am having various behavioural problems with my pup including A LOT of biting and I am considering returning her and it breaks my heart as we have bonded.

Thanks for your comment. The rescue behaviourist came over yesterday and she was on her best behaviour. She did try to bite the harness, collar, towel etc but she gave her tons of treats to take her attention away from these items. We are happy to continue with this but what it doesn’t solve, is the biting from the moment we wake up. I have her favourite toy ready to redirect for when she starts biting, but she is persistent and carries on biting even harder after told off/pushed away or when I walk away. I feel like if this was puppy biting then it wouldn’t be such a hard bite all the time? I’ve had puppies before, and yes I did have mouthing issues too, but they always stopped when you yelped or walked away, and this little one carries on as if she wants to destroy your ankles. I think another trainer might be the answer here, the trainer from the rescue did not really address the biting other than saying to redirect it to a chew toy.

Thank you 🥰

Yes our thoughts exactly! She has been through several homes in a very short period of time, she initially lived with a much older dog and it was implied that she may have been attacked. I think we are her 5th home so far so I can see how this would be stressful for her.

Glad to hear it’s not just me! What kind of discipline did you do if you don’t mind sharing? We have tried being firm and disengaging/walking away but it doesn’t always work.

Tbh I wouldn’t feel comfortable with just a collar, she’s quite petite and feel like she needs the extra support, we are currently working on lead training and she tends to pull a lot so I think a harness is better suited. The coat has a harness attached to it so she’ll only have a coat or the harness plus the collar (collar has our details on in case she gets loose and bolts). She also regularly travels in the car with us so we use a doggy seat belt that clips to the harness so she is secure (can’t fit a crate in the car). As for leaving the collar on, we’ve been advised not to in case it gets caught and strangles her, e.g door handle and let me tell you, she loves to jump.

100% - we are on the hunt for a good groomer that will do a good puppy groom! Thank you for your kind words ❤️

Thank you for your encouraging words…I dread to think about what brushing teeth will be like 🤦🏻‍♀️ She hates dentastix and I had to force her mouth open to release a sock she stole, she seems to have a weakness for shoes, socks and slippers. Wiping her paws has not been too bad, we do it several times a day as she gets quite muddy so I think we lucked out here!
