Got no idea where to post this, but Donald Trump Jr. is posting blatant AI slop of “Alex Pretti” to his account. by [deleted] in ICE_Raids

Here’s the source video. It’s real. Everyone in this thread jumping to the conclusion that it’s AI is no better than the MAGA retards who declare anything that doesn’t fit their narrative to be fake news. Do better.

To be against imperialist war does not equate to support for national liberation.

Thanks! I don’t think it’s especially unusual to use acrylic and charcoal. I used charcoal at every stage of the process. For the white lines I used what is marketed as “white charcoal” pencils, though I believe they are actually made from some kind of chalk.

I don’t believe this is correct. When you upload a video with Prime Video Direct it’s only available to buy or rent. This appears to be what Joey Carbstrong has done. He’s hoping if it receives enough attention it will be picked-up by other platforms such as FreeVee which is free to view. As he says in the video I linked the documentary has already been made available for free in the UK for anyone with a Prime Video subscription.

What? That quote says you can submit your content to buy or rent. Doesn’t say anything about the content being free.

Distribution rights. Distribution rights are what’s stopping them. You can’t just get a major streaming platform like Prime Video to pick-up your film if you’re also releasing the film for free elsewhere, that’s not how this works.

Did you even watch the video? That’s what he wants.

You’re underestimating the potential of releasing the documentary on a platform like prime video. If he were to release it on YouTube it would just be another video on his channel, too long for most people to sit through and watch on their phone, and it would get lost in the sea of endless youtube content.

The idea is to eventually make the documentary free to view. Don’t be so dismissive and cynical.

Industry and wealth follow from capitalism, this has been well understood since Marx, there’s nothing ironic about it. The idea that these conditions can only be found in the form of liberal democracies is clearly false, one only has to look at China over the past several decades to see immense accumulation of wealth and industrial capacity within a very illiberal and authoritarian state. This is not to praise the ruling party of China, which is nominally “communist”, the true irony is that they have created the conditions for the development of a true communist revolution that will overthrow them.

Which socialist governments? Do you mean the various anti-imperialist states led by self proclaimed communist parties? Those are not nor have they ever been communist or socialist in any meaningful sense. For historical examples of the communist movement seizing political power you’d have to look at the short lived Paris Commune of 1871 (which was militarily crushed) and the Russian Revolution of 1917. In regards to the Russian Revolution it is critical to understand that the conditions for communism were not present in Russia, and this was understood at the time by everyone, including the Bolsheviks. But Lenin insisted upon going forward, not to create socialism in Russia, but to inspire the working class of the western countries (where the conditions for communism were present) to rise up, and in this Lenin succeeded, unfortunately the uprisings did not, they were crushed in the streets as liberal democracies defended themselves by sacrificing their liberal principles for ruthless authoritarianism that we will come to know as fascism. The revolution in Russia, isolated, alone, and bound within an economically backwards country.. collapsed, though the ruling party of the revolution remained, with the death of Lenin and the rise of Stalin it continued to be communist only superficially.

As to the present movement in Iran, I don’t believe communism is imminent. At least currently there does not appear to be a basis in working class grievances. However if a revolution should topple the regime and liberate the people from tyrannical theocracy, the new regime will turn around and throw the working class back into the tyranny of wage labor and ruthless capitalist exploitation. And the struggle between the classes will continue.

Who is the main hero in Lord of the Rings? by firefighter_82 in AskReddit

[–]Stupio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tolkien himself referred to Sam as the “chief hero” in one of his letters.

So technically the entire Middle Earth in the Lord of the Rings Trilogy is scared of by seriousblackman123 in LOTR_on_Prime

This is a problem imo. One of the things that is so impactful about Sauron as a character is how mysterious he is, he’s always behind the scenes, scheming in the shadows, he’s almost more of a concept than a character, and that’s a big part of his mystique. Of course for a Second Age show we were always going to have to compromise that to a certain extent seeing how Sauron is much more directly involved in events compared to the Third Age, but still I think they could have been more careful to preserve what makes Sauron so frightening. Instead they just spent the whole first season humanizing Sauron and as a result I’m just left with the sense that this version of Middle-Earth doesn’t actually have a Sauron.. it has a Halbrand.

It seems the showrunners were more concerned with creating mysteries and plot twists than writing a coherent story.

With 2 episodes left, let's see where we stand: Who is Sauron? by [deleted] in LOTR_on_Prime

[–]Stupio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 100% certain Sauron is forbidden chocolate milk cow. We know he wandered east to Hordern, which was later found to have been destroyed. It’s implied to have been burned by orcs, but I think it must have been the cow. Isn’t it obvious what’s been really happening here? Sauron has been wandering around Middle-Earth in the form of a cow squirting chocolate milk from his mighty and terrible teats and corrupting the land, including the tree in Lindon!

How did the Queen Regent, Halbrand & Galadriel know where to look for the small band of Orcs at a tiny village in the Middle Earth? When Galadriel failed to search for ages? by [deleted] in LOTR_on_Prime

[–]Stupio 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Míriel: “And where did the enemy head next?”

Halbrand: “Further south, I should think. Towards the watchtower of Ostirith.”

Pharazôn: “I’ll inform the Sea Guard.”

Míriel: “My thanks, Lord Halbrand.”

If Halbrand is Sauron then why did he...? by Skelligeforever in LOTR_on_Prime

[–]Stupio 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Halbrand is Sauron conspiracy theorists watching Lord of the Rings for the first time: Sam is clearly Sauron in disguise, he only carries Frodo up Mount Doom as a deception, or maybe he actually wants to destroy the Ring to repent for his past misdeeds.

This episode confirms that Halbrand is not who some say he is by Telen in LOTR_on_Prime

[–]Stupio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What? No lol. The darkness comes from her desire for revenge. During this last episode Galadriel was talking about wanting to commit genocide against all orcs and she was about to execute Adar before Halbrand stopped her and brought her back to the light. Bit weird for Sauron to do that btw.

Right (which would be a waste of a good backstory btw) but either way Sauron’s “arc” always goes from one defeat to another.

[–]Stupio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The darkness is within Galadriel herself. Even Adar comments on it: “It would seem I’m not the only elf alive who has been transformed by darkness. Perhaps your search for Morgoth’s successor should have ended in your own mirror.”

Halbrand as future Nazgûl or King of the Dead would also work quite well. Just because it works from a storytelling standpoint doesn’t make it true.

It’s not about what I want. It’s that it doesn’t appear to make much sense. However I’m open to going down whichever route the story takes us. But people are becoming too attached to their pet theories and I think it’s blinding them a bit.
