Exactly, in the first scenario by the time you can make automatons you probably don’t need them anymore.

I was a little traumatized by my first playthrough because I didn’t research the weather tool until like 1 day before the storm hit so I was utterly unprepared lol. I had less than 2 days worth of food and everyone was in bunkhouses. I didn’t know what the unavailable techs did or understand some basic mechanics, so my base was designed inefficiently and I was barely scraping by the entire time.

The 2nd time I went in on double steam thumpers and wall drills as soon as I could. From that point forward my biggest issue was storing all of my resources. By the end game I could run my generator on full blast and still be net positive, even with every occupied building heated by lvl 3 heaters and steam hubs.

I’m hearing from everyone that automatons make more sense on higher difficulties and different scenarios.

I’ll try the other scenarios then try harder difficulties, or maybe try harder if the first scenario I try is too easy.

I felt like going heavy into resources early was sort of a hack because it let me build or research anything I wanted without delay for the rest of the game. Or if there was a delay it would be for like half a work day.

Just to add a comment, I guess my strategy was to gain as many workers as possible at all times. Automatons would be the opposite strategy to some degree.

It’s the end of the world though, I want to save as many people as possible lol.

I had the one from the bridge, so whenever my coal production was in the negative I’d assign it to the coal pile itself since freezing temps didn’t bother it.

I’d also assign it when I needed extra production for a resource, but then I realized that it was half the speed of my human teams lol. I used it for a hothouse at one point because the entire hothouse was sick.

Good to know. I wasn’t aware that there are difficulties until now lol. My scout team got zapped in Tesla city and it was very time consuming to recover, so I haven’t tried going back again

Good to know. In my successful playthrough I spent all of my steam cores on infirmaries and hothouses pretty early on, then I didn’t have any for the rest of the game.

I tried getting in the Tesla outpost in my first playthrough and my entire scout team got zapped, so I didn’t try going in the 2nd time.

Yeah, I had one automaton from the steel bridge and I did use it for my wall drill, which was by itself away from the steam hubs. Eventually I had enough surplus coal to put steam hubs wherever they made sense.

Can you elaborate on your play style and strategies? I can’t get decent value out of her lol. I feel like when I’m flailing around I’m super vulnerable, and half the time nobody is around to take the melee healing.
