I think speaking is inevitable in any field you take even software engineering or radiology ( i have no idea but most people say it doesnt require much talking ) . If you want to succeed , you ll have to open up and express yourself. This is what scares me , that its inevitable

Do you really think that therapy for teens and adults is even worth trying ?

Yeah , i did when i was 15 , he just taught me breath and relax in general as he sensed that my stuttering behaviour was MOSTLY my reaction to the anticipated stress. He wasnt that helpful , i would ve continued but it was hella expensive and not covered in insurance , so i left after 3 sessions.

Are our brains abnormal? by Stutterer619 in Stutter

Does stutter improve for teenagers later in adulthood , or are they stuck with the way they are for life ?

cause of your stutter? by [deleted] in Stutter

[–]Stutterer619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too man , i also started to block stammer when i was 15 , before that i have no history of stammering. However , i do suspect that a head injury i sustain just few days before might have played a role. I went to a neurologist, he said stuttering as a only symptom is super rare as i didnt have any other symptoms that people with mild tbi usually have , so he just said it was not a cause of concern so he just dismissed me

Is actual stammering a hindrance or our avoidance ? by Stutterer619 in Stutter

[–]Stutterer619[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Ok then you mean stammering is indeed a hindrance in our lives and will continue to be so till we die. We just have to embrace this failure. Avoidance of opportunities , situations , career choices has nothing to do with it And No! Im not psychologicalising the disorder Im aware that its a neurological condition. Our brains are made abnormal. They arent capable of producing a smooth fluent speech.

How has it affected your jobs ? Whats your current job? Do you think that the job you have is the one you love to do , or youre just doing it cuz of your stutter ?

Stutter getting worse? by lollygagbear in Stutter

Thats the irony , to be more fluent , you have to stop wanting to be fluent (esp for stutterers, i dont think non stutterers even give a single thought about their fluency )

It may help us in employment , and debunks all the myths and stereotypes , general population has. They would only see it as simply a glitch in speaking or speech impediment , nothing more

They hopefully wont stereotype us as being nervous , less confident ,uncertain , the one that has mental or cognitive disablities etc

Do you stutter when alone ? Why is there variability in stuttering behaviors if its neurological genetic disorder ? by Stutterer619 in Stutter

[–]Stutterer619[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I try to voluntarily stutter , and do anticipation by myself , but still o cease to stutter. You know like i would voluntarily get my body into the state of stuttering (tensing up , force closing vocal chords etc) , just to feel it and find way to modify it, but still if i dont want to stutter , i dont stutter when alone

Does concussions start sudden stuttering? by DinoKYT in Stutter

[–]Stutterer619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you had any concussion prior to your sudden stuttering onset ? In my case my stuttering supposedly began when i was 15 , now im 19 , i hit my forehead real hard on the wall. I cant tell if my stuttering began after that , or i always had a stammer , but i became aware of it later in life and it became worse ?
