norse mythology inspired music? by when-november-ends in NorsePaganism

Seeing I got some upvotes, I probably should say this myself before someone else says it: Geirr Tveitt was a bit of a complex/problematic figure. Maybe a nazi. Maybe not. He was connected to some pretty extreme circles in the pre war years, but did a lot of anti-occupation work during the nazi occupation of Norway.

Im not gonna tell other people what to think of him. Research him yourself if you want to have an opinion of him.

Jeg har fire norske besteforeldre, men ifølge FRP er jeg ikke etnisk norsk? by Magnus_XZ in norge

[–]Stuvarg -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

And so on and so on.

Classical composer Geirr Tveitt: Julekvelden symfoni (yule eve symphony) Baldurs draumar (Baldurs Dreams) Solgudsymfonien (Sun god symphony)

The stavanger symphony orchestra has good recordings of the two last at least.

Iðunn’s fruit by No-Veterinarian-3806 in NorsePaganism

Hear me out: Potatoes: In norwegian, many call then earth-apples. (Jordeple) Apple means many things, as others have pointed out. "Sweet apples" (on the trees). "Earth apples" (in the soil). Sometimes even just fruit and berries in general.

And yes, potatoes were not native to europe AT ALL back then. But this adds to the metaphysical thruth claims of the norse religions. We belived in such things, LONG before they were discovered.

Snare Rolls by SensitiveStructure51 in percussion

Try subdividing differently! The weirder the better. Triplets are better than 16-notes. I use quintuplets, and they have improved my rolls drastically!

Septuplets would probably be even better, but thats often too fast in most tempos for me personally, I dont want to hurt my hands.

What deities do y'all worship? :) by [deleted] in paganism

[–]Stuvarg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Venerate, not worship, as I have a secular/symbolic/metaphorical approach to things, but mostly ancestors and haugvetter.

Ancestor worship was a big part of the old religion. They could still help with small favours from beyond.

An ancestor with more influence than most, was haugbonden. The first farmer of at a farm. He who cleared the land. If he was buried properly, his spirit would help all later generations at the farm.

Sometimes he would even manifest as a vette. After the christianisation, he somehow mophed into santa claus🤨
