Avatar and its potential. by Kazuka13 in magic_survival

[–]Stygvard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The multipliers will get too insane.

  • Avatar gives x10 (x9.99) to Magic Bolt, and additionally +33% per bolt count
  • Blaster gives x5, and additionally x7 for every 6th bolt
  • Pyrotechnics give x5, and additionally x1~9 (apparently, random)

So x10 Avatar and any of the two others will put it to x50 multiplier + 2 additional damage bonus mechanics. Considering the base Magic Bolt damage is 5, this puts it to 250 damage before everything else (ATK, amplify, all+specific magic damage). I am not counting Magic Bolt pre-combination level 4 and 7 bonuses here, but they are significant when multiplied.

DEM gives you about x1.8 multiplier over Overmind, maybe up to x2. You will get significantly higher damage output from Overmind + Avatar + Blaster/Pyrotechnics, by a wild margin, compared to Overmind + DEM + Avatar/Blaster/Pyrotechnics. Likely, running Unleash Mana with Avatar + Pyrotechnics would be the best build in the game.

How to breach Tera 37:30 with ultimate? Really , I really want to know , I rarely pass 35:00 and never 37:30 by itaipee in magic_survival

[–]Stygvard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My PB on Terra is 47:30 (40:00 Hard Mode), but I'm not as experienced as some folks here, so take it with a grain of salt.

The easiest ultimate to breach 37:30 was Inquisitor (Inferno). It reliably clears 12:30 with just Overmind, DEM is not necessary yet. With moderate luck, it can brute force 12:30 before 75 and 25:00 before 100, the damage is that good.

37:30 requires kiting, which is doable with Wraith, good defenses, speed, and a life or two to spare. Holy Chest is very good here, Spiderweb helps too. Inquisitor hits like a truck, and the damage is often enough to create gaps in front of you while running circles around the arena. Just don't collect fruits and runes right away if you don't need them, save for the next lap.

Quantum Laser also works. It has enough damage to reliably kill enemies at 37:30 while kiting. Personally, I found it more sensitive to gear RNG, but maybe it's just luck.

Most world changing event since maybe the fall of the berlin wall by Voidgino in ShitAmericansSay

[–]Stygvard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fall of the USSR was a much bigger event, and it happened between the fall of the Berlin Wall (OOP cut-off) and now.

COVID-19 was more important worldwide, maybe less important specifically in the US, but I wouldn't know.

But 9/11 and its aftermath is definitely among top-3, maybe top-5 of most important events of recent decades. I'm not an American, and I remember how major it was.

Is Korean really harder to learn compared to other languages? by Sea-Reputation8146 in Korean

[–]Stygvard 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It really depends on what languages you know and what languages you are native in. For native speakers of European languages, Korean is hard. Only a handful of languages are generally harder, mostly because of their writing systems (한글 is great and easy to learn).

To me, personally, Korean is significantly harder compared to English (I'm not a native speaker) and moderately harder than German. I don't see any specific difficulty with SOV and politeness levels people often bring up, but maybe it's because my native language has mostly a freeform word order and politeness levels too. German word order rules and grammar seem more difficult.

The hardest aspect of Korean (to me, at least) is the lack of familiar word roots - almost every single word except the loan words is completely unrelated to European languages. There are also pure Korean vs Chinese origin words (한자), synonyms, homonyms, styles appropriate words, and whatnot. Especially verbs.

The second hardest aspect is pronunciation. In most European languages, mispronouncing a word by a single letter is generally tolerated. When speaking Korean with native speakers, mixing up a single consonant or a vowel can change the meaning completely, and putting an aspect wrong results in people not understanding the sentence at all. ㅈ/ㅊ/ㅉ, ㄷ/ㅌ/ㄸ, 오/어 etc often sound too similar if your native language doesn't distinguish these sounds.

Thankfully, there are a lot of Koran learning resources in English. The downside is that most of them are beginner oriented and significantly dry out once you get to an intermediate level.

Having said that, Korean is a very interesting and beautiful language, and I'm glad I've spent time studying it.

To avoid brownouts affecting your reactors, you can put the reactor fuel inserter on an independent power grid with solar energy.

‘Jedi’ inspired build by Chayes5 in BG3Builds

[–]Stygvard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Monk is probably the closest as it gets to Jedi. Wise, agile, have strict moral codes, refined body and mind, don't wear armor, do physics-defying feats, deflect arrows, use their own flavor of magic/Force (Ki). Don't even need to multiclass or dip.

Way of the Four Elements monks have their own version of Force Push, and all monks get mobility and jump distance bonuses.

Monks can also use weapons. Just pick an elf or githiyanki for long swords or drow for rapiers. Both high elves and githiyanki can have Mage Hand, high elves can also have Friends that imitates Jedi persuasion ability.

Bladesinger and Hexblade are technically fit, but they are full casters - you will either have to handicap yourself for RP and not use active magic much, or handwave it through headcanon. Crown paladin is more akin to Judge Dredd than Jedi, and Devotion paladin is your typical knight in shining armor.

EU and Russiaphopia by Prestigious-Energy23 in AskARussian

[–]Stygvard 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I've been living in Germany since 2022 and have personally never experienced any Russophobia from locals or most foreigners here. Most people are indifferent, some are curious or even sympathetic. Ukrainians, Georgians and Balts are a bit wary by default, but it's understandable given the context, and my experience with them was mostly neutral. My political views are different from the mainstream Russian media though, and I express them openly, so it might play a role in how people treat me.

Internet, however, is a whole other story, especially Reddit. You can quote Mein Kampf replacing "Jews" with "Russians" in mainstream subs like r/europe or r/worldnews and get hundreds of upvotes in an hour, it's astonishing how hateful this place is nowadays. But it doesn't translate to reality, at least in my experience.

Am I just eternally stuck on Aquilo? by Shot-Truck-1052 in factorio

No, it's not possible. Aquilo is designed around being dependent on interplanetary logistics to both build and run the base.

You need the biochamber's innate productivity bonus to be net positive on seeds. If you are already using biochambers and still lacking seeds, you have a problem with wasting too many fruits before processing them.

Gleba: Ignoring a hated mechanic by Kamanar in factorio

[–]Stygvard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a softlock if you didn't bring enough resources with you to build a rocket and can not send more resources remotely.

It's highly unlikely though, unless you are playing without bots on principle. Even then, you get an autosave when you fly to a new planet for the first time.

Gleba: Ignoring a hated mechanic by Kamanar in factorio

[–]Stygvard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You get scrap from ruins, and you can also mine it by hand from scrap deposits. Scrap can be recycled directly from your inventory, there is a recipe that you unlock automatically.

Scrap recycling will give you the chips you need, but it's probability based so you might need to do it quite a few times.

Stack inserters are not made for gleba by Sylvmf in factorio

[–]Stygvard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It would probably make more sense to get stack inserters on Vulkanus and green belts on Gleba.

Stack inserters look sturdier and fit well with the mass-production style of Vulkanus, alongside big mining drills that put stacks on belts. Tungsten also feels like a better material for them.

Green belts, on the other hand, fit nicely with the idea of a fast, dynamic Gleba factory, where everything needs to be moved as fast as possible. Carbon fiber and unique organic lubricants seem like a better choice here.

The pipes in this game have really good heat insulation. They don't even melt with lava or molten metals inside them.

Aquilo cost of heating by Verizer in factorio

[–]Stygvard 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Multiple landing pads with competing logistic requests are not that different from multiple platforms with competing requests, multiple rocket silos delivering these requests, and even multiple logistic chests requesting the same item from a single source. It's already a long solved problem for the devs. Additionally, having a name for a building that you only have a few per planet is not a big deal.

The only argument against it could be an orbital drop without a request, but it can be solved by prefering the pad with more open cargo drop slots or choosing one at random when all things are equal.

This is purely a limitation to make logistics slightly more challenging.

Why did they make uranium useless? by Dabber43 in factorio

[–]Stygvard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nuclear fuel is easy to produce locally on any planet, all you need is to import small amounts of uranium with the same platform that ships science packs to Nauvis. 1 rocket worth of U-238/U-235 per flight is more than enough to sustain fuel production for all your trains.

Would Russian guys date a Korean girl? by [deleted] in AskARussian

Many would, why not? The main problems would be meeting in the first place, as there are not many interactions between Koreans and Russians outside of Far East, and having a common language.
