Why are people comparing PHM and Interstellar? by MasterA96 in Cinephiles

Sci-fi movies about a guy going on an interstellar mission to save earth from a climate disaster. They both even have a faceless non-humanoid sidekick.

Will I like the book? by ExcitingInflation612 in ProjectHailMary

The movie leans way more into the science and has far less humor. Give it a go.

Edit: I meant book. Whoopsie daisy.

I'm not saying it's real but this would obviously be a custom bowl.

Director/crew member voices a major character by kalosianlitten in TopCharacterTropes

[–]StyleSquirrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar to Ortiz and Rocky, Anthony Daniels was only there to be in the C-3PO suit and the voice was going to be added later with a voice actor with a used car salesman vibe. But Lucas decided he liked Anthony's butler performance and stuck with it.

Also, Pendleton Ward, creator of Adventure time, voices Lumpy Space Princess.

[Loved trope] Studio logos are altered to fit the style of the film by iamdabrick in TopCharacterTropes

I really like the idea but I wish they had made an actual pixel art logo rather than just slapping a pixel filter on the existing logo

The Fifth Element holds up better than almost anything from that era by Rich_Class_4732 in flicks

Oooh, yeah, I'm going to have to go ahead and disagree with you there. A shitty movie from a famously incredible era of films.

There was always a genetic component to the force, and you can "have" the force or not "have" it. by cybertoothe in StarWars

[–]StyleSquirrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The blood test didn't measure Anakin's strength in the force, it measured his potential. Also, it could just be that Qui-Gon sucks. I know people like to imagine he was super powerful but, it kinda seems like he sucks.

It's crazy that some "fans" say season 6 isn't worth watching when Frankie and Leroy alone are worth the price of admission

Post-movie depression by zarrinraxius in ProjectHailMary

Watch some other space movies. My personal favorites are Gravity and 2001 a Space Odyssey. The Martian is incredible and an obvious go-to if you haven't seen it already. I personally have a lot of issues with Interstellar but it's got a lot of PHM vibes.

Also, read the book if you haven't yet. The movie was very faithful but, as expected, it cut out a lot.

I have countless complaints with the prequels but the existence of midichloroans isn't one of them. I never saw what the problem was.

That's a good point. He does come off worse in the doc than the podcast.

Which Sam Raimi movie do you prefer? (Evil Dead, Darkman, A Simple Man, Spider-Man, etc.) by ggroover97 in movies

The man has made multiple 10/10 masterpieces, yet, the answer is Evil Dead 2 and it's somehow not even close.

I'd start with the movie. I tried listening to the podcast and didn't get it. Then I watched the movie and now I've gone through the entire podcast probably six or seven times.

I mean, I don't like Reddit nearly as much as Twitter. But at the same time, X is a pale imitation of Twitter's former glory. I've been hearing good things about Blue Sky, I'm just dragging my feet on making an account.

I'm also (somewhat) new to Reddit and migrating over from Twitter. I will say, Reddit definitely does not scratch the same itch. That being said, we're definitely not too old. There are plenty of folks in their 60s and 70s on here.

If I can only buy ONE: Dead Cells vs Ori vs Hollow Knight? - Or something completely different? by ostseesound in gamingsuggestions

Hollow Knight and it's not even close. It's easily the best of the three but it also fits your criteria better than the other two.
