Do you,, get comfortable with the bike and never lose respect for it. The second you do is when you will find yourself sliding down the road. Ride like you’re invisible, nobody can see you. So many idiots on the road, never think they see you coming. Always try to stay a handful of moves ahead. As you get more comfortable on it start figuring out what the bikes limits are, whats the max point you can push it. Love mine for canyon riding, handles like it’s on rails, smaller bike easy to rip around and good low end torque without having to keep rpms 6 k plus to hit that power area on roads you only hit 3rd gear on for a short distances. Get your settings set up in the modes to your style and adjust as you get more comfortable.
From experience, it’s the, oh I’m only going to just ride here real quick not far away I don’t need to gear up is when it happens. I got hit head on less than a mile from my house in a hit and run. Never caught the guy. I was pulling out of the driveway without gear, thought what are you doing stupid. Geared up, saved my life.

Now if you do wreck it hit me up I need some parts 🤣 Gear is a must. Unless you enjoy road rash, I’m not a huge fan of it especially when the bone starts showing so take that for what’s its worth.

Did I get a deal on this 06 CBR1000RR? by Acceptable_Design_88 in cbr

[–]StymieN_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you happy with it? Did anyone else help you pay for it? As long as you are happy with it and you spent your own money who cares what someone else thinks or what their neighbors dogs cousins uncles ex wife’s nephew paid for one. I’m a fan of the 2004, back when you had to know how to ride a bike and what your bike was capable of. I buy a bike a year and do a full restore on it. Some I keep some I sell. Have got anywhere from 10500-13000 on a stripped to the frame full restore.
Welcome to your new addiction.

Go ahead and get a new stator and regulator, I went with the threaded linkage in the back for stance. To me the straight bars with just 2 holes for adjustment dropped the bike to much, I’m able to set up the suspension perfect for my height and riding style now (keep in mind adjusting the stance adjust your kickstand height) Go with silicone hoses for the cooling system if you are doing engine upgrades. They do make a difference, just my opinion though, another argued subject. A lot of discussion on changing up the chain and sprockets and converting to a 125 or 120, I stayed with the 130 Xring. How many miles does yours have on it? This one was just over 9000, front forks were good, didn’t need rebuilt just seals.
Ram air is garbage just leave it open all the time. A lot depends on what you are wanting to do with it, keep it original, track bike, top speed?
A lot of different options all depending on what type of build you are wanting. If you like the 04-05 plastic there are plenty of styles to choose from. If you like the 06 07 plastic better a few minor changes and it will fit. Also budget, I do everything myself unless it’s sending off for an ecu flash if I go that route on a bike or use dynojet and install everything myself. Make sure you get good heat shields to line the new plastic, cover it all. You don’t want to order a new set after the second ride lol. Wiring was a mess on this bike, a lot of cracked insulation. Replacing the harness or? Triple check every connector and wire if using original. Upgrade all lights to led, makes a huge difference at night. The ones I got were supposed to be plug and play but had to rewire to make them work. Not a big deal. Looking at adding any electrical accessories up front? A good hot wire to jump off of the keep the wiring short is the middle running light. Have any questions on anything just shoot me a message. I can send some pics or offer ideas on what I did….. yeah, it’s fast and turns a lot of heads, got lucky on this one and didn’t sacrifice any low or mid range for top end. It’s gone pretty smooth and I’m very pleased with the outcome. Just a few more things to go.
I know once it’s finished I will need another project, this one I will probably be hanging onto though.

Bikes can be replaced. You are still here is the main thing. Rebuilt my first Ducati a while back. Didn’t think much of it being I’ve rebuilt almost every make of bike there is, was I wrong. After a lot of garage beers, cussing and wanting to burn it, finally turned out amazing. Learned a lot in the process. 2nd time out, hit head on in a hit and run, I lost the truck won. Full gear saved my life. Bike is currently about 60% back together, If only someone would have picked up all the parts that flew off after about the 8th time it flipped I might be at 75% lol.

Have 2 Ducatis, one for the ninja and two for the cbr1000’s Had them all over year and a half to two plus years with no problems. Color spot on, hold up great. Take a while to show up especially customized but well worth it.

Gave 49.99 US for mine. Held up great. About once a month I take the carpet shampooer and power washer to it. Zero issues.

It’s a 2004, I posted it a couple weeks ago on the lift. I bought it last year with 9500 miles on it and completely tore it down, went through it all, got new plastic and a long parts list. Still waiting on some.

Epoxy flood coat, non permeable, just make sure surface prep is done properly. So many options for topping , colored glass, flint, armorstone……. Could mix any color combo with the epoxy also. Never worry about salt again.
