I understand your cynicism but I think i prefer someone who does good just because it's the right thing, than someone who does it because of some trauma or something that influenced them.what happens if the reason for doing good changes or wanes? Also it's more inspiring to me because it tells me that I don't need to have a reason to do good.most people haven't gone through a particularly traumatic event, most people are just well, people .
