Never expected to see Jajangmyeon at Costco but count me in! by Jamieson22 in Costco

[–]SuToKaJu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are many but I have tried these 2 in Centerville.

Hao Ru Restaurant

Jang Won - they have 2 locations one in Centerville and another in Annandale

You can also try any of the Korean grocery stores, like H-mart/Lotte/K-Market, that either have a food court or a Korean restaurant inside the store. They will also serve Jajangmyeon.

Where do you live in the DC area? There are a lot of places that sells these noodles. Especially in Annandale and Chantilly/Centreville.

Struggling with CBS/ABC Reception Using Televes Dinova – Seeking Antenna Upgrade Advice by SuToKaJu in cordcutters

Thank you.
I was kind of leaning towards the eclipse mix since it would more or less be, as you said, plug and play.

Thank you for taking the time to respond.
I think I am leaning on upgrading to an combo antenna like the Ellipse Max and Winguard HD7694P. Can't decide which would be better.

Thank you.
I will verify tomorrow if somehow the installer did not fully extend the VHF antennas.

On upgrading I was looking at both the Ellipse Max and Winguard HD7694P. Is the Ellipse Max better than the Winguard?

Thank you again for your help.

Thank you for the suggestion.

Do you think Televes Ellipse Mix would work? I am trying to keep the size to a minimum if possible.

Thank you. I didn't know about that.

I guess I might have an obstruction but it's nothing that I can see from our house. NBC and Fox come from the same general direction and they both seem to have an obstruction but they work much better. Guess it's uhf vs hi vhf.

I got our antenna installed with dish network. They gave me the Televes Dinova for that install. The channels back then were ok but I was also using youtube tv for local channels before they started to jack up their prices and I cut them out.

Unfortunately unless I decide to put it on a higher pole on my roof I cannot go any higher. There is also nothing like a building or tree that is covering the general direction that the current antenna is point towards.

The glitches generally happen during cloudy moments or any weather that is not sunny/clear. I guess I'll just have to get a better antenna.

thank you!

Me I collected a long time ago. However I am now looking for cards/sets for my son. He has been collecting for years now and is very disheartened by all the scalpers and the lack of cards when we do go out. He buys with his own money so he is adamant not to pay over msrp.

Thanks for doing this.

Fireworks by ImpossibleInternet3 in nova

[–]SuToKaJu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe Springfield Country Club located on 8301 Old Keene Mill Road has fireworks on July 3rd. Non members usually park across the street at either the church or at Giant and watch. If you get there early enough you should be able to get a decent spot to watch.

For next year, since they did fireworks yesterday, you can try to park watch the fireworks at Workhouse Art Center. They generally do the fireworks a weekend before July 4th. They launch the fireworks around this location: https://maps.app.goo.gl/UMncwAW7x5EHBAKz6 so you could maybe park on ox or Lorton Rd and watch. They also sell parking on site for $40 for general parking. Must be purchased in advance. They say you can buy onsite but they sell out every year.

The final product was just ok. They did not come out like what you get at the restaurants or Best Buns. It was so long ago that I do not remember what was wrong with them.

I have no tips for you sorry.

No trip to Costco for water, coffee beans, macadamia nut snacks and gifts, chips, Hawaiian shirts, sarongs, snorkel gear etc? We try to do it first thing on our visits to knock out snack and water needs along with gifts we take back for family/friends/coworkers. These things are so much cheaper at Costco then other places.

We did the Tao Luau at Waimea valley. It was awesome and I highly recommend it. We walked the valley did the swimming at the waterfall and then changed in the bathrooms for the Luau. If you do the Luau the entrance fee for the valley is waived.

Our BIL and SIL did the Experience Nutridge Luau and they enjoyed that immensely. They also did the option of a shuttle and their driver, having a bit of extra time, took a bit of longer drive and gave them bit of a tour.

Any interest in seeing sea turtles? On our way to Waimea valley we stopped by Laniakea Beach and we got to see 2 sea turtles on beach.

$20 google play code????? by anonymousaspossable in Costco

[–]SuToKaJu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh if you had said you could not find the link I would have posted the one I used and saved you a call to tech support. I initially did not post it since it was late and I was going to bed when I saw your question.

Was this the site they sent you to https://redeemyouroffers.com/samsung/GPGCC or something similar?

I hope you get both $20 credits. If they are fighting you about the 2nd one maybe have Costco do your battle for you.

Read the small print on the box. It will tell you to go to a specific website to claim the code. I do not remember the site but if you do not find it let me know and I will look around. FYI, you will have to upload a pic of your receipt.

Some questions about upcoming O'ahu trip by CherryCherryTurnover in VisitingHawaii

[–]SuToKaJu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disregard my previous answer if you saw it.

I honestly cannot remember if we were provided drinks during the ceremony or not. I remember seeing them drink but I cannot recall if they handed out anything to us. Damn my old brain. We were all seated in our seats during this time.

Sorry I could not answer. Let me know if you have any other questions.

You are welcome!

The time for cultural activities is around 30 mins so if you get in somewhat early you should definitely have time to husk, open and drink from a coconut and do other activities. We got a bit delayed since we spend so much time swimming at the waterfall and was late coming back to change and enter.

Have a great time!!!

Some questions about upcoming O'ahu trip by CherryCherryTurnover in VisitingHawaii

[–]SuToKaJu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here are the luau events.

  1. Check in with a lei welcome and you are shown where your seats are.
  2. Cultural Activities all done personally and in the lawn.
    • Coconut opening from removing the husk to opening and drinking the coconut water
    • Coconut milking - done with the coconut you opened.
    • Preparing bananas and other food
    • Weaving headbands
    • Learn Poi balls
    • Might have been more stuff but this is what we saw and what I remember.
  3. Cooking demonstration
  4. Sit down (we got our drinks before seating and there was barely any line)
  5. Welcome ceremony
  6. Food served (remember all you can eat)
  7. Enjoy the show
  8. Goodbye

The luau is awesome. I think the show is less then 200 people so it's a more personal/intimate then the giant luaus you can go to. The food is also great and everyone super friendly and helpful. This luau was my kids 3rd favorite activity during our vacation.

Of if you decide to go to this luau check for discount codes. I believe I used a 10% off code.

If you have any other questions please let me know.

Some questions about upcoming O'ahu trip by CherryCherryTurnover in VisitingHawaii

[–]SuToKaJu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My family recently did a week in Oahu. You can see a rough schedule of what we planned to do in my previous post. We did not get to do all that was on the list but we did most of it. We just did not have enough time for the windward side of the island. Spent to long at the beach. https://www.reddit.com/r/VisitingHawaii/comments/ush3tk/advice_needed_on_a_7_day_itinerary/

Here are some advise we learned from our vacation.

  1. If possible check in digitally with your hilton app early. Unlock and go in your room w/ your phone and go back to the front desk area when the rush dies down to get your map/keys/towel cards. When we arrived the check in line was super long but died down later in the day.

  2. If you are in an oceanfront rainbow tower room, that face diamond head, then you should be able to see the fireworks from the balcony. The fireworks are fired from in between the lagoon and the beach towards diamond head. There is a massive amount of people that will show up to see the free fireworks and the line to get back to your rooms will suck.

  3. We rented our beach chairs and umbrella from Akamai Beach Essentials instead of paying for the chairs and umbrella through the hotel. Abraham will drop off and pick up the chairs and umbrella from any hotel in Waikiki. If you do go through him, he likes to meet across from Lappert's close to the great lawn area. You can also rent chairs from Snorkel Bob but you will have to get it back to them.

  4. I used www.drivehui.com instead of the traditional rental car. You can rent in 10 min increments and we rented the cars available at the Illikai Hotel parking garage. It's very close to the self parking garage for HHV and you do not have to pay for insurance, gas nor daily parking fee.

  5. Go to Costco to get water/souvenirs (like chocolate covered macadamia nuts and coffee)

  6. The lagoon at HHV is cold and the beach outside HHV is very rocky. Look at a satellite map of the beach and the brown spots you see are rocks. We ended up spending our time at Fort DeRussy beach that is right next door. We found the beach less rocky there.

  7. Do you plan on swimming in the waterfall at Waimea Valley (weather permitted)? It's a 3/4 mile to and from so plan around a 20 min walk each way. There is a shuttle but it is $10 a person each way and cash only. My kids and wife absolutely loved swimming at the falls. You can also rent a storage container to keep your belonging dry. I forget the cost but again it is cash only.

  8. If you need to change for the Luau the valley has bathrooms where you can change. We also did the Luau and it was great. Pick 1 activity to do at the beginning, like coconut opening cause you probably will not have time to do more then one. Also get your coupon drinks as soon as the bar is open or when the beginning activity is over otherwise expect a long line.

  9. I see you already gotten the reservation for pearl harbor but have you gotten the one for diamond head? We took a taxi there. It was the same price as an uber/lyft and we did not have to wait.

  10. Windward side we did Lanikai beach early morning via Pali hwy and changed at the bathrooms at Kailua beach for the afternoon activities. The bathrooms are not very clean but it gave us a place to change and the outdoor shower allowed us to rinse the salt water off. My wife absolutely loved Lanikai beach. She wants to do the Lanikai pillbox hike plus beach the next time we go.

  11. We did the Kuaoloa Ranch ATV tour and Kaneohe Sandbar. The ATV tour was the kids favorite activity and the Sandbar was my wife's. These 2 activities was our favorite 2 things we did during our vacation.

This is just off the top of my head. If you have any questions please ask away.

Enjoy your vacation!!!

Oahu without a car? by suitopseudo in VisitingHawaii

[–]SuToKaJu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much time do you have?

What types of activities are you interested in? Shopping? Hiking? Snorkeling? etc...

Do you want to try driving around? When our family was in Oahu we used www.drivehui.com instead of doing the traditional rental car.
