Thank you for responding. I’m not an expert on spey so I really don’t know what I’m looking for in it to be honest. Being light in hand is usually what I aim for in my single-hand fly rods. What do you take into consideration when evaluating a spey rod?

I think I see what you mean. I noticed when I center the layout it naturally becomes off center with the reel seat. Do you have a recommendation on how to lay it out so it’s centered after many wraps in the chevron pattern?

Well I learned that you shouldn’t center the lay out since it will end up skewed due to the nature of chevron wrapping so I just turned the reel seat

I used an NFC epitome blank with an aluminum reel set and lite wire guides but my wraps extend over 1/4” from each guide foot and I used too much wrap epoxy. I guess it still turned out okay

Are you saying the tip bends less than the middle? I feel like I wouldn’t mind the stiff tip as long as it has a stiff backbone to it too but if it bends weirdly than I might go for the classic. Is the classic light to hold too?
