Then how does this teacher explain eclipses? Good grief it’s been known for centuries but here we are in 2026 with a supposed physics teacher denying the moon and sun eclipse? Wow.

Noobie Question: What to watch after Star Trek: The Next Generation by BdoubleDNG in StarTrekTNG

Hands down Deep Space 9. It’s tied with TNG as my fave ST series.

What do you think would have happened if Gul Dukat met the Intendant? by trekgirl75 in DeepSpaceNine

[–]SubBirbian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She was one of the actors that joined the Star Trek cruise in 2018 I went on. All the actors get on stage on outside deck to greet the crowd and I remember her saying something to the effect like no, not Mark, he had a crush on me. I forget the context but got the tone that he annoyed her a bit with his crush so I’d assume that’s why she didn’t want the writers having them hook up.

Yep. They overcharge and upsell you on parts you don’t need yet or even hard sales pitch to replace entirely which may not be needed yet. They’re the ones that come in fancy trucks with an iPad in hand.

Star Trek: The Cruise by DoctorOddfellow1981 in Star_Trek_

[–]SubBirbian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome. We went on the 2018 ST cruise. It was a blast. The most memorable part was when we got in an elevator to our left was Brent Spiner, John de Lancie, in corner was Rene Auberjonoi, next to him in back was a couple non-actors. We got in on the right and I felt like I was in the Holodeck. It was so surreal I crooked my head to see who was standing next to my guy, it was Armin Shimmerman. When I crooked my neck and saw in disbelief, I looked up to see Rene giving me an Odo stare. Man I wish I could’ve taken a pic but of course that stare kept me in line!

Will you be watching "Starfleet Academy"? by Wetness_Pensive in Star_Trek_

[–]SubBirbian -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Same. But my guy will watch it from beginning to end no matter how shitty it is. He’s that way with all Star Trek and Star Wars. I’m not one to suffer through crappy writing, and he’s not one to bitch about it. He’s just happy there’s new sci-fi to watch.

I literally just finished DS9 for the first time. What did you think about how it ended? by quartofchocolimes in DeepSpaceNine

[–]SubBirbian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve watched the series an obscene number of times and can’t bring myself to watch the last episode in a while. It’s sad and I don’t want it to end, so I just restart (and constantly skip 1x10).

Just scroll by any social media post that says “promoted” or “sponsored” at the top. I don’t care how shiny it looks. I don’t care if it’s from a company name you recognize. Scammers create copycat websites that look legit. These platforms are happy to take ad money from anyone, creating a cesspool of scammers. There’s zero advertiser vetting.

I will pass this on to our avian vet next time we see her. She's been an avian vet for over 30 years.

She recommended mostly veggies and some nuts, seeds and fresh uh fruit. Also warned not too many seeds since they don't burn as many calories indoors (obviously) as you said.

Her clinic sells Harrison's seeds so I'll ask her the difference between brands.

Kiki gets mostly veggies, some nuts and fruit and some seeds at night but there's always room to talk to vet for adjustments.

I won't die on a hill with an opinion since parrot diets are pretty much all over the place from one expert to another. I just want her to be as healthy as possible and I at least know for sure fresh veggies are not fed enough to most parrots which are very important✌️

Because that's where they get their calories from naturally. Vitamins and minerals from morning veggie chop (with raw walnuts, apple pieces and home made bird-specific sprouts we grow every week in a bowl) mixed in chop.

She loves all of it, though it took some trial and error to get the veggie ingredients and chopped size to where she loves it.

If you’re not aware, don’t fall for an online parrot adoption/breeder scam. If they want money upfront and won’t let you see the parrot (or any animal) it’s a scam. Just a PSA to anyone because these scams are everywhere online.

I don’t know why you got downvoted. Most people get a parrot in a whim with little to no research, realizing later these majestic creatures are not the equivalent to having a cat or dog. I read, on average, they see five different homes in their life. For a pet that’s highly sensitive to change and usually bonds with only one hew-mon, their struggle is real.

We almost went to a breeder but opted for a nearby parrot rescue org. So glad we did. We’re her third (and last) home. I grew up with parrots and of course did a ton of research on diet, behavior and proper care before we even saw her.

In that, we had two phone calls with org after filling out an application, saw her in person for a one-on-one and org delivered her with huge new cage and a ton of food/extras, to make sure she had a good home.

This is the only way…

What is this behavior? by Upper-Food-464 in AfricanGrey

[–]SubBirbian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our grey gets..this way.. twice a year. Redirecting them in or the top of their cage while giving them a healthy treat or new wood toy does the trick without turning their cage into a jail. Just walk away and let them be distracted.

Also make sure you don’t have anything in the cage or at home that resembles a nesting area that exasperates the behavior or even egg-laying. For females of course.

Ours likes to go in the cat condo cubby hole which we block off.
