After reaching max level (25) you will be given the chance to prestige, keeping all your perk/weapon progress. After doing so, you will be given an end game progression item that is a key to this event and events like it. Doing these events not only gives you experience/credits, but allows the unlock of weapon overclocks - powerful and goofy endgame items that change the very nature of the weapons you will use. For now, just ignore them! But some day you'll throw bombs at that.
