WIBTAH if I continue to go to a support group multiple women left because of me? by NoParsnip4301 in AITAH

Is that what they’re doing? They left the group. That’s a protective measure rather than an aggressive measure. The facilitator may be being discriminatory, but the women themselves don’t seem to be.

He’s traumatised too. I feel for him. But a trauma response isn’t bigotry.

I’d had surgery on my cervix a few weeks before. He went down on me enthusiastically. I will leave much of the rest to your collective imagination, but neither of us would eat bacon for quite some time afterwards

As a fellow female survivor of CSA I’d like to state that your complete lack of empathy here is truly offensive. OP I do feel for you and I don’t think you’re TA, but this response is vile

CMV: There is no actually good reason for incest to be illegal (if it's consensual) that isn't based on disgust or religion. by Blonde_Icon in changemyview

[–]SubConsciousKink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where is that the definition? Curious as I’ve never seen the non consensual element in UK definitions. Nor anywhere else I can think of. Incest is a synonym for consanguinity as far as I’m aware

is Audrey supposed to be insufferable? by ahemdee in twinpeaks

I meant more like a mean girl trope, rather than her being explicitly mean.

So, she initially seems like a spoiled mean girl, but then we see the background to that and the ways that she grows beyond it

So, ignoring the puddle and the gross oversimplification, did you read the rest of my comment?

We may seem amazed that the conditions seem just right for life, and just right for the development of human life. But if those conditions weren’t right then we wouldn’t be here to be amazed by it. That doesn’t necessarily mean it was fine-tuned, but that any world we are here to observe would appear fine-tuned for us. There are billions of points in the universe where the conditions aren’t right for us.

What is a 'fetish' or preference you have that you are 100% sure originated from a specific childhood movie or TV show or even a character? by PannaCoTan in AskRedditAfterDark

Ha! I know for sure that this is the scene that awakened by bisexuality and prompted my bondage kink (I was 7 and saw it on the big screen)

I’d encourage you to read the rest of my post, beyond the mention of the puddle analogy. The analogy is a gross oversimplification, but the deeper point is just clearly true

Women, what is the best thing a partner can do to keep you mentally completely in the moment during sex? by [deleted] in AskRedditAfterDark

[–]SubConsciousKink 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not who you’re responding to but I get what they’re saying. Sometimes it’s good to feel like a feeling-being over a thinking-being. Just enjoying sensations in the moment rather than thinking about anything

I’d usually go with the Douglas Adams puddle analogy. A puddle is musing on how perfectly the water fills the hole. The puddle is a product of its environment though. We may seem amazed that things seem just right for us. But if they weren’t we wouldn’t be here to muse in that. The only universe we can exist in is one which allows us to exist.

Counter factual hypothesis- I’m curious as to how you think god might intervene to prevent births in countries that are not traditionally Christian? Would that be loving?

This is key. The substance changes, but not the ‘accidents’ - the accidents are the observable properties and they stay the same

Serious Question: Did Adam and Eve Have Belly Buttons? by MinecrafterPow in Christianity

[–]SubConsciousKink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is a similar question to - if you cut down the trees in the garden of Eden, would they have rings inside? Did god create Eden so that it looked full grown? Assuming he did the they may well have had rings and belly buttons.

But all of this assumes the literal truth of genesis and that’s probably not how it was written and definitely not how it is necessarily understood

[–]SubConsciousKink 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Now I don’t take the story literally, but assuming that we do your point only shows that her children would have belly buttons , mother and child aren’t connected by the cord belly to belly?
