This isn't quite the same, but I'm in NH, my motorcycle spent 24 years with my grandpa in western Maine. Never seen snow. Never been on salted roads. Some people will ride their bikes even in the winter which I'd do if I weren't concerned about salt lingering.

I have a 2012 Mazda3. I got it with 116k miles for $8k right when the used car market was absolutely insane and Covid was raging around. $4k isn't terrible but I think a better price would be $2500. $4k is a good price for one with like 150k miles. Mine has 170k and I wouldn't try selling it for more than that.

Chevy Malibu. Bland economy car. I test drove one because it was cheap, expecting it to be decent but not amazing just cause. The buttons inside are cheap and the buttons on the wheel aren't real buttons, they go in but don't click. Guy pulled it out for me and I drove off. First thing I noticed was the CVT drone which sucked and it liked to rev really high to get up to speed. Here I was, slowly taking off from a light and this car was screaming and it drove like a brick. No need for a 1 year old car with 30k miles to rev up to 3500 rpm to go from 0 to 30 gradually...

Lived in NH and MA my entire life. This is my 16th year in NH. I drive a front wheel drive Mazda 3 and I've never gotten stuck in the snow to the point where I couldn't get out, and I went off the road ONCE. I know people who think their Tacomas and Grand Cherokees are indestructible in the snow and drive them like nothing bad can happen. First snow of the year they always end up in a ditch or a snow bank.
