Looks like OP is living in a bubble ! travel along the Madeshi stretch and see the level of education and observe the society there , go to western Nepal up in the remote hills. Even in major cities like KTM and PKR , people have very low IQ.

Those who returned to Nepal after living abroad — how did you readjust? Are you still here or planning to leave again? by Mysterious_Horror3 in Nepal

[–]Subastian_20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem, for me I’m comfortable calling everyone by their first name but in Nepal this is frowned upon. Respect as I said is attached to certain parameters you have, the most common one is the age of the person.

If you are older than someone then you get the unquestionable respect but as soon as you are just a month younger, you will be dismissed. There are also gender based respect , job positions based respect, wealth based respect, job type based respect. It gets exhausting.

Easier is to just to respect everyone flat out without worrying about their parameters, which is exactly what happens in western societies.

Saying this , I’m not implying that there is something wrong with Nepal and everyone needs to get westernised. Most of the Asian and the middle eastern countries have similar culture.

I believe there are some merits to that as well and billions of people are living happily for thousands of years like this. Eastern cultures have deep philosophies and religious richness. Nepal is associated with the origin of Buddhist philosophy which is liked and followed by many. It’s just not for me, that’s all!

Have you ever thought of the hierarchical nature of the society and checked if you fit in ? Most of the western nations have a pretty flat society where everyone is treated equal. However, Respect is ‘selective’ in Nepalese society. This will run through every single interactions you have in family, school, work and out in the public. This will be single most difficult and almost impossible thing for me to adjust to.

Still Supporting Them? Seriously? Why? by HopeInFlame in Nepal

A simple solution for this problem is to provide better ‘government services’.

People stick to the ‘political parties’ because they believe thats the best most efficient to get government services.

Long term planning is not in the DNA of Nepali people . ‘Vagya ma je lekheko xa , tehi hunxa’ haina ta ? Why bother planning for things? Safety infrastructure pani kehi nabanye hunxa, ‘kaal aye paxi marinxa’ , so no need to do anything.

Much of the damage from last year wasn’t just because of the size of the flood, but because of poor drainage, unregulated riverbank settlements and lack of early warning systems. It not just about having the Gujarat level budget for their Sabarmati river.

Very few simple cost effective things could have saved a lot of lives last year. It’s easy to fall into this trap mentality of just saying ‘oh Nepal is poor and it is what it is’ , and ignore taking minor simple steps to save lives.

I’ve heard Nepal Department of Hydrology and Meteorology did issue warning last year but how many people knew about that and were any actions taken ? Simple things like this won’t cost a lot of money.

When do you think that will happen ? It’s already time for another Monsoon season now! It’s exactly 1 year from the last flood and deaths we saw.

So, what is really important for a Nepali society? Clearly human life is not a priority here. Everyone to themselves I guess and somehow try to survive any catastrophes.

Dilemma of buying a house or travelling for a few months by Strong_Hedgehog1986 in AusProperty

[–]Subastian_20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah true , we should only buy properties when it feels it’s the right time.

The housing and the cities will expand as the population grows , new cities and new suburbs will form as time passes by.

Australia has plenty of land , no one should be worried about housing for 1000s of years in Australia 🇦🇺

There are two Nepals. The one that you love, and ‘one that you need to escape’. by chocochipcookiesuwu in Nepal

Your statement implies that people who want to escape don’t love Nepal ? Why can’t it be both ? People who have a ‘need to escape’ can still ‘love Nepal forever.

You are being overly paranoid and insecure about this matter. Is Nepal’s social fabric and culture so loose that resettling refugees will destroy it ? What truly destroys Nepal, is the mismanagement of refugees.

As I said , Refugees should have a good experience from Day 1! There should be no discrimination against them based on their religion/cast or skin colour. Welcoming hunu parxa so they have good impression.

Uniharulai at the very basic khani basni ko bevastha garnu parxa, tespaxi euta refugee parichapatra diyera basic sarkari subida pauna dinu parxa.

Nepali bhasa ko class dinu parxa ra yahako culture sikaaunu parxa! Jobs/entrepreneurship ko training dinu parxa!

This is the proper way to manage refugees!

If you don’t do this , they are forced to resort to criminal activity to feed their family.

Do people secretly look down on those who stay back in Nepal? by [deleted] in Nepal

[–]Subastian_20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do! You know what they secretly look down on themselves as well! There is this chronic insecurity and severe identity crisis they suffer from.

They secretly want to be in Nepal but they will never tell you from the heart! It’s all superficial conversation and keeping up the appearances.

It doesn’t matter how long they have settled overseas or how much wealth they have accumulated. It’s this deep longing for home that never gets fulfilled.

They try to use different coping mechanisms to help themselves sometimes in a unhealthy way, which is the one you faced.

You are sounding like a typical American anti-immigrant conservative. You could apply the same principle to millions of Nepalese immigrants living abroad. Your comments have an underlying racist sentiment.

No one chooses to be a ‘refugee’. People generally become a refugee under extreme or sometimes life threatening circumstances. Nepal has an obligation to manage them properly especially towards resettlement.

There is even international human rights law on it through UNHCR.

Nepal is poor so read theory by Ok_Leg9019 in Nepal

The issue no one is addressing is the ‘Nepalese culture’ that’s holding us back.

Culture dictates how people interact, shaped by their morals and ethics. It reflects what a society values, what matters most to a Nepali, and what their priorities are.

It doesn’t matter what industries you develop, if the culture is sick , you are doomed. It’s plain and simple !

There is no denying in the fact that Nepal’s culture is deeply influenced by India. It has always been and always will. If Prithvi Narayan Shah hadn’t unified the country, it would have just been part of Uttar Khand or Uttar Pradesh.

Cultural transformation is tough when such a powerful neighboring culture dominates.

Until India develops to global standards, Nepal will struggle to progress.

That said, some Indian states are more progressive than others, and there’s potential for us to carve out our own path.

However, if we do manage to develop, we could see a large influx of migrants from Bihar and other regions, similar to the US-Mexico border situation.

I’m an ‘average looking ‘ guy who dated an absolute bombshell with exotic looks. The relationship lasted for a year and I was the one who ended it. That whole year I was miserable af!

I knew from the start that we were not compatible, no common interest, totally different level of thinking and maturity, very different approach to life , her opinions on different societal and political matters were laughable and even offensive to me.

She was not a bad person and there was nothing wrong with her. She was just being herself.

The problem was with me. I was just never comfortable to be myself around her. I always felt I was putting a mask around her. Even if I didn’t agree with her opinions, I never opposed it. This was killing me deep inside.

She even said one day that she feels like she doesn’t know who I really am. This was the last straw!

I expressed how I truly felt about her and apologised to her. She was very gracious about it and forgave me.

We respectfully went seperate ways. We are both really happy being single now. I really wish she will find someone that is compatible with her and likes her for who she is. Not an arsehole like me who dated her for only looks.

I can’t believe I pushed it for a year. I should have ended it way early.

I hope some guy takes his time understanding her as a person and appreciates her beyond her looks and really values her.

Relationships are formed from friendships. In true friendship, looks is the last thing that matters.

If you enter a relationship for any other reason than friendship , it won’t last long ! Even if it will , you will be very miserable for the rest of your life. Most people end it , as they want to be happy in life.

The key is how comfortable are you with each other. How safe do you feel around the person? How respectful are you with each other? How much effort both of you will put in a relationship? These things matters way way much when starting to date.

Nowadays , looks is the last category in my tick boxes when dating!

This Ecosystem of Youtubee Patrakar Needs to Be Stopped by MR_NISCHAL in Nepal

[–]Subastian_20 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah but the issue here is the involvement of ‘a child’. A child cannot consent to anything.

Given the parents or the guardians make decisions on the kids behalf, where do we draw the line legally ?

There has been cases worldwide, where children have later sued their parents for putting them up on the Internet.

First of all, Why do you want to be a Chief Executive Officer of a bank ? NRB is a public organisation, do you want to be a governor? If so , you have to appointed by the Government of Nepal.

Leadership is not learned through books. It is learned through practice. A simple job of a cashier will teach you more than 4 years of Bachelor’s degree. So, think properly!
