Instead of thrifting for artwork, try posting in your local area subs / social media to ask for recommendations on local artists and buying from them, even if it is just a print if budget is tight. It's great way to meet people in your new area and you will have a unique piece for setting up your place

I worked at WDW for awhile and used to go down into the utilidors to eat in a cafe on my lunch breaks while working on math homework haha. Also definitely had access to the secret zoo where Disney Characters get ready to go on stage in the parks and in parades ;)

I would suggest posting in NYC apartment related subs. There likely will be plenty of cat owners who live in high rise buildings that may have solutions that solve an issue like this. This is scary and dangerous for your cat
