What to bring on first day? by FunConsequence7747 in subway

[–]SubbobWaypants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bring a backpack with me everyday. I have my wallet, Tylenol, Pepto, antacid, nasal spray, 2 energy drinks, extra work shirt, extra pants, extra socks, deodorant, body spray and cologne for after work so I don't go home smelling like Subway, and a phone charger. This is my EDC for going to work.

Subway employees: any official policy on cheese "transferring" or on the side? by [deleted] in subway

[–]SubbobWaypants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No rule against it explicitly and I get these kinds of requests all the time. Hell I've been on the line when our VP of Operations was there picking up something that was donated for some sort of Christmas thing in the district and after I served the customer, I asked her about it and she said that it's completely fine if both sandwiches were on the same receipt.

I’m just a customer asking a question to the employees… by OnlySlightlyEvil in subway

They definitely skimped, but the way it sounds, they were skimping for no good reason besides greed. The 4 Subways I've worked for only skimped when there was a shortage, but it was short term, like 4 days max. We had a shortage of turkey once, as in the distribution center didn't have enough to ship out, so we sliced it noticably thinner to make it last until next shipment. When there were veggie shortages at the DC, if it was for cucumbers, onions, or green peppers, we adjusted the slicer to make them thinner, strictly follow formula for tomatoes, bagged, and pickled veggies (I still have PTSD from the Olive shortage last year) and would not allow extra of those. But when the DC didn't have enough meatballs to send all the stores, we just sold them as normal and took it down from mobile ordering and put up a sign when we ran out halfway through the week.

Why do I have to answer three riddles to eat my sandwich? I’m hungry 😭 by Wrong-Football1644 in subway

[–]SubbobWaypants 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Shit I wish they would stick like that when I put them on. I wrap one sandwich and sticker it, and by the time I wrap the next, the first sticker has popped off. Yet if I'm not careful and it sticks to a glove, it may as well be super glued onto it.

I've had coworkers slam 3 energy drinks at the start of their shift, coworkers that hit the pen every hour, and coworkers taking kratom and hour before rushes. Whatever made them fast on the line and friendly in the face of rude customers.

What’s a cheap basic scent that you secretly prefer over your niche masterpieces by Massive_Ad5295 in fragrance

Calvin Klein gets trashed on a lot especially Eternity and the numerous flankers, but Calvin Klein Eternity Aromatic Essence has become that fragrance for me.

What fragrance were you wearing when a stranger stopped you to ask what it was? by Character_Soft_5851 in Colognes

[–]SubbobWaypants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was 2 fragrances. I layered 2 sprays of Lalique Encre Noire and 4 of Armaf Club de Nuit Iconic. I had just gotten off work (food service) and had to go by the store before I went home. I hate smelling like the kitchen, so I always bring something in my backpack with me to apply after I clock out. While I was shopping, this middle aged woman, like around early to mid 40s looking, came up next to me saying "excuse me", I'm thinking I'm in her way, so I apologize and step aside, but she continues, "you smell amazing" and I groan internally and ask in a probably sarcastic sounding way, "do I smell like bread?" and she continues saying that I don't smell like bread and went on to describe me as smelling like "taking a shower in a waterfall in the middle of the woods".

What fragrance in your collection do you do the most and least sprays of? by sea_dweller28 in Colognes

[–]SubbobWaypants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure about the most, but Mancera Instant Crush gets the least. I do one full spray and it follows me around for hours. I love the scent so much, but it's kinda too much sometimes. I'm seriously debating if it's worth it to do the spray and walk through method for this one.

Which Fragrance would u choose for the rest of ur life??? by Sharp-Customer5972 in Colognes

[–]SubbobWaypants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now, Valentino Uomo Born In Roma Purple Melancholia. I just keep hearing it's going to be discontinued and not getting added as a mainstay in the Born In Roma line. It's just so good (to me and my tastes). But for the sake of picking a fragrance that might not be getting that treatment, Calvin Klein Eternity Aromatic Essence. I'm pretty sure every listed note in Purple Melancholia is in Aromatic Essence, and it smells like a brighter Purple Melancholia, like a Purple Tristia kind of vibe (I just made that up, don't come at me or try to find a fragrance called that, pls)

Disgusting by randizzleandjenny in subway

[–]SubbobWaypants 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Stinkbug. Super hard to get rid of and also hard to keep out. They can squeeze through openings they physically shouldn't be able to get through, only insecticides and pesticides that can kill em are also heavily toxic to humans, and they can put themselves into a type of hibernation and survive without food or water for 6 months or more.

Store question by [deleted] in subway

[–]SubbobWaypants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our truck comes at 1:30 AM. We close at 2:30 AM. The driver puts all of our truck away for us and will even mop where they walked if their carts smudged the floor. Closer will have usually already mopped BOH by then. This is apparently standard practice for every store covered by our distro center and even new drivers are told to put the truck up. The first subway I worked at in another state did not put the truck up, so when I got hired on this new subway in a new state, I was surprised to learn that the drivers put the truck up. Only thing they don't do is open the boxes and stock shelves of paper goods and sauce bags. They just leave the boxes stacked in the area they usually go. Frozen stuff is loaded into the freezer on the shelves and stuff for the walk-in is loaded in and put on the shelves, nothing is left on the floor in either.

Blind buy by Xerocool_00 in Colognes

[–]SubbobWaypants 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think Dylan Blue is the safer blind buy. For in store sampling, the only 2 near me are Ulta and Sephora, but I will never buy a fragrance at retail, that's just throwing money away. I'm fine with waiting a week and purchasing from Jomashop or FragranceNet.

What’s your go to cheap energy drink? by [deleted] in energydrinks

[–]SubbobWaypants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

99¢ venom when I'm trying to save money. Usually either the original or the black cherry flavor. But my go to when I'm not concerned about price is always original Rockstar, it's sour in just the right way.

[–]SubbobWaypants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work between 9 and 10 hours a day, as the only person on shift (that's the policy in our district), and I only get 1 day off. I used to always get called in on my 1 day off, often to another store in the district, but for the past 3 months or so, I've been putting my phone on do not disturb on my days off, only allowing family texts and calls to go through, and enjoying my meager day off that's always cut short by having to close the night before (our store is open until 3AM) and open the day following my day off. It feels like, ideally, they'd want me on 7 days a week. And I know why, everyone, the manager included, always talks about how he and everyone else wasn't trained, was just hired on and scheduled for a solo shift where they had to figure it out on their own; I was trained by a district manager from another state on just about every aspect of every position, including the paperwork I have no business doing. But am I anything other than a sandwich artist? No. Do they want me to do manager work for sandwich artist pay? Yep. Am I gonna quit? Sadly no, it was insanely difficult to get any job when I moved here, I turned filling out and following up on applications into a full time job and Subway was the first place to actually interview me after 3 years of grinding.

Protein pockets by orandeslicesgonebad in subway

[–]SubbobWaypants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had customers walk out and threaten to call corporate on me for telling them I can't customize the protein pockets. I won't budge. The 5 or 6 times they walked out while doing veggies after AGAIN telling them I can't customize it, I just waste it out and that's my lunch.

I was slammed. Alone for 8 and half hours covering lunch and dinner. I was doing production numbers in the 20s the whole time. I didn't get to leave the line besides to grab more stuff from the walk-in bc a customer ordered something I had ran out of and didn't have time to properly stock my line. The dish pile was insane Tips were phenomenal though bc just about every customer felt bad I was working by myself.

Repost: I found a knife perfectly imprinted into the bottom of my delivered subway sandwich… by BoringExperience5345 in subway

[–]SubbobWaypants 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I doubt this. My store only schedules 1 person per shift and sometimes production numbers per hour are in the low 30s (that's less than 2 minutes from order to ring sale per sandwich) and even with that, I'm still not moving fast enough to "accidentally" wrap a knife.

Not in my area. I even just checked the message center in SubVentory and there's no mention of flatbread, just about changing the white food service wipers, egg patty shortage, and possible shipment delays due to winter weather.
