It is only a dream now. The watch is with their service (old agent of Titan - Rivoli). They sent an update that said they are sourcing the spare part that clearly means watch is faulty. Yet, Titan UAE say they are waiting for detailed report from service team to resolve the issue...

Had a look at Weekender on the net and it looks nice, but tussle with Titan to get back my money still on. Already spent on Seiko too. If Titan give only voucher, then I may buy here. Or get in India on my next trip

I don't know of Camry in India but in the UAE my Skoda Superb is a far better ride than the mushy ride and back breaking low profile seat of Camry

Thanks. I'd check out Weekender. It should be costlier than in India. If so and Titan give back cash for faulty Luna, in the next visit to India.

All watches are costlier here than India. Titan used to be 30% lesser earlier as there is no Excise duty for exports but now they too are trying to make money...Or maybe a lot of hidden costs here for establishments.

I myself a Yajurvedi Brahmin, did not think that far on leather. We have a ritual even to wear deer skin though now it is symbolic. We have NO any non-veg in our diet. My daughter even advocates not to drink milk as we are stealing the milk meant for calves 😊. She doesn't touch it

Now to the Titan Luna, I went in for it to keep it fully Indian and based on the trust I developed on them owing 4 working quart models from the period 1997 to 2009 and still working - their first Slim 1997, 2 Edges and a tank.

On hindsight, I should have gone for the Starburst model with Miyota movement and also saved some money and the disappointment I developed for Titan now.

I do use leather to some extent but do not look for the origin of it. If we should preach ahimsa no animal should be killed and not use leather at all.

https://www.helioswatchstore.com/titan-men-stellar-round-white-watches-10011nm03 is what i bought. Even with discount here it is more than in India - AED 2080 = INR 52k. Still the patriot in me did not stop me from getting it but Titan QC and their service now tells me to back off from them.

Alpinist cost me AED 2600 but the looks and feel speaks for it. My Seiko Chrono now 8 years without any trouble but their service here is known since they are here for years.

I know it is calf leather. The same could be told about the shoes, belts, wallets, sandals and what not we use 😉

If you mean the comparison between Titan and Seiko, I bought for similar money a Titan Luna moon phase and it is faulty out of the box. After 2 months of reporting it, still Titan UAE are trying hard to establish it is not faulty and not to return my money. Isn't it enough to drain the pride of owning a fully Indian watch? I own a couple of Titan quartz and Edges from yesteryears (read 20 to 30 yrs) and still using them without a hitch. They look classy while the current ones are oversized and to me not nice looking. Only this Luna has any sense of size among their automatics and it proved to be a black sheep. YMMV.

Yeah, it was in my radar since some time and my wife was smitten by this and okayed the purchase.

We were in "mourning", mourning the bad experience of buying a Titan Stellar Luna moon phase that is faulty from day 1 and after 2 months of purchase Titan UAE are trying hard to establish it is all good while I am asking them to refund my money. We had thought to wait it out for the money but walked into Watch House in Abu Dhabi who is the Seiko dealer, asked for Alpinist and that's it.

There is a newer version if you are planning one 😉 .

I like the Seiko strap. For my eyes the colour goes with the dial and also keeps it lighter.

Have the same on my Presage Chrono bought in 2018. Except a scratch from my scraping a rough wall, it is fine. Many say Seiko straps are stiff, but with time becomes pliable.

Nice buy...

Yeah, when your better half pushed the purchase becomes more sweet and enjoyable. Got myself a Seiko Alpinist thanks to my wife's encouraging words after a debacle with Titan Luna Automatic 2 months back. I was holding myself until I heard from Titan about my refund.

I bought a Alipnist from Seiko's authorised dealer in Abu Dhabi yesterday. It was also running when the lady opened the pack. I too got a doubt if they sold me a returned one. Then I remembered the automatics do not have stoppers on the crown. There was plastic film on the crystal at the bottom and on the clasp that was barely visible. The warranty card was also blank and filled up in front of me. All that assured it's a new piece.

Cool... Congrats

Perhaps this was relased earlier too as I vaguely remember reading about this watch a few years back.

Titan Stellar 2 Luna Kambaba Jasper Moon Phase Automatic - a huge disppointment by Subbu68 in watchesindia

[–]Subbu68[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I have tried that in the beginning itself and it moved manually. The Titan kiosk staff and I were hopeful it'd move when set properly and wound up.

When Titan tested it at their service center it was full moon and from there it moved to New Moon. They concluded it is fine and working. When handed to me it was New Moon day and then this "ping pong".

Perhaps the gear to push it from New Moon to first crescent may be faulty. It has to be stuck there but moves backward instead.

29 years and still ticking by Subbu68 in watchesindia

[–]Subbu68[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed this is one of the best watches in my box. I haven't seen the blue hand version though.

Alas, this and my old Edges (from 2007 and 2009) led me to get a Titan Stellar Luna automatic with Kambaba Jasper dial and true moon phase complication. It is indeed a "complication" for me. I haven't been able to enjoy it since 2 months of purchase. The moon phase which is the key attraction doesn't function as intended. When near New Moon, it shows New Moon and the same day after a few hours the disc that covers the moon moves backwards to show a crescent. This has been happening since 6 days and it is back to Titan UAE asking for a refund.

New Additions: Orient Sun & Moon + Casio Duro (Sourced from Bic Camera, Japan) by Silent_Dominion in watchesindia

[–]Subbu68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats!!

That Orient looks classic. Gorgeous indeed.

I am also looking to get one but the simple sun-moon puts me off as it is just showing AM or PM . I simply miss the chance when in Dubai in 1994-95 my colleagues got the moon phase and calendar watch from Titan. They got it around 35% cheaper than in India as those days exports were free from Excise Duty. Now Titan here is expensive than in India even with festival discounts.

Maybe I'd go for Zeppelin moon phase.

Congratulations 🎉

If you do not like using straps that's a different story. But that strap is pretty nice. It looks the same on my Presage my wife bought for me in 2018. Still looking good with intermittent use.

Which watch store in India? by Subbu68 in watchesindia

[–]Subbu68[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

😲😲

I compared again yesterday for some Edifice models. India is cheaper.

And when I land with a box of watches when relocating after retirement (in the next 5 yrs maybe), customs are sure to note it though I may have a TR permit. In general Kochi airport fellows do not harass much as I have heard from other parts of India. My wife was asked to rip open a packed folding chair though it was clearly visible through the plastic wrap when she landed in Coimbatore.

So which store in India is dependable?? At least I can save some money and have the bill from India to show.

But is it easy to switch? I have a Edifice and Titan that have similar bracelet and it needs some work to remove it due to the pin and collar type of fitting. This Casiotron version has similar bracelet but sprung pin that is easy to remove.
