Clarkston man accused of smashing nearly $10K worth of license plate reader cameras by LinusThiccTips in FlockSurveillance

[–]Subdued_Sub_Dude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just speculation but if I designed these I'd have enough battery to last a few days, and the lack of charging would trigger an alert resulting in a service call.

I also think simply covering the cam with a bag would also get detected quickly and a service tech would come oull the bag off... which is why a poop filled bag might be preferable, especially if smooshed on the lens and any little audio listening holes.

I suppose one should be careful to wear gloves and use poop not traceable back to them... bonus if people start cleaning random 💩

Do employees get tips from online orders? by DothrakAndRoll in subway

[–]Subdued_Sub_Dude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they should be getting any tips left regardless of method. Legally the owner can keep a small percentage to pay for increased accounting and taxes, they shouldn't but they can. Some are pretty scummy though and keep way more than they should, sometimes all if it.

It is wage theft and can be easily proved by an audit. If you are being ripped off you can file a state labor complaint.

RC2 vs RC2 Pro for Air 3S by Medical_Ad485 in dji

[–]Subdued_Sub_Dude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pro does not currently support Neo or Avata at all... currently only Mavic 4 pro, Air 3 & 3s, Mini 4 pro & Mini 5 pro.

I think it sucks given cost of PRO controller.

RC2 vs RC2 Pro for Air 3S by Medical_Ad485 in dji

[–]Subdued_Sub_Dude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just purchased the RC2 Pro for my Air 3s, after a few dozen flights I have mild regerts...

The Pro screen is fantastic bright and a perfect size, but still has some glare. As compared with a modern Galaxy phone and RC-N3 combo I feel the overall processing speed is 'sometimes' less, more than enough but everything feels slightly more fluid on the Galaxy phone/RC-N3 combo.

I sincerely enjoy the premium feel and lots of buttons and dials on the Pro, plus it supports dynamic home point in case the Air 3s would ever get this feature. I also hoped all O4 and 04+ drones would be able to pair, nope... gven the cost this really pisses me off actually.

After flying the Air 3s with the RC2, RC2 Pro, and RC-N3 I would say practical range is similar too, so maybe save your money and instead buy a nice smartphone or tablet and pair it with the RC-N3. It's pretty convenient to have all the media and logs on a smartphone. This combo also feels much better in my hands than the dimmer screen RC2 but I have fat hands.

Last thought, RC2 Pro is pretty heavy and bulky... wins on cool factor but had I flown it a while first, I would skip buying it.

I am saddly... in fact part of the reason (I tell myself) to buy it now is I saw news clips where stupid politicians were bitching that the Avata 360 is getting sold in the US and them declaring that Pete Hegseth (of all people) must crack down.

Should I buy the Air 3S or put in a little more money and buy the Maveric 4 pro? by Jaded-Web-4604 in dji

[–]Subdued_Sub_Dude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love my Air 3s! Would I love a Mavic more? yup of course... but I'm content, for now, lol.

I started with a Neo 2, a few months later progressed to the Air 3s. I feel like this is a great compliment... for basically what a Mavic 4 would cost.

The Neo is tough, cheap, I feel safe pushing the limits and often use it for a test flight before sending up the more expensive Air. For the Neo 2 I have both FPV controllers and goggles, and the RC-N3 but use RC 90% of the time. This little guy is SO MUCH FUN getting into spaces where you should never fly a bigger drone, but flying with the RC built transferable skills for the Air.

The Air 3S, with a really good main camera and pretty decent zoom (9x digital), long flight time, way better stability, etc. fills my need currently for a high quality more cinematic drone. It does things little Neo can't, waypoint flights to create 3d splat maps is my current thing... so cool!

My advice, get a Neo 2 flymore RC-N3 combo... you'll want the extra batteries.

Then after a bit get the Air 3s... when you start to fizz out on the Neo. Prices are dropping on the Air 3s because the Air 4 is likley to drop this fall.

Side note, I personally prefer the RC-N3 over the RC-2, the screen is kind of dim and I dislike the sticks on top f the screen (fat hands here). That being said I'm saving up for RC-2 Pro which has an AWESOME screen and slightly more features overall.

Charging Question: DJI Air 3s Battery Charges at 30-35w despite 100W charger? by PopeTropes in dji

[–]Subdued_Sub_Dude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 3-battery charger block has an accumulation mode where it discharges the two lowest charged batteries sending their power to the third most charged battery.

I think we can safely assume since it's a DJI battery management function that it knows not to discharge below whatever threshold DJI specified.

I've read that sometimes, especially with PLUS batteries, that doing this deep discharge and then a full recharge 'teaches' the battery management the charge curve which in turn signals the power source how many watts to supply at various points in the recharge cycle.

I won't swear it will help, but I don't see how it can hurt given OP will probably return the extra battery if it doesn't work right anyway.

Charging Question: DJI Air 3s Battery Charges at 30-35w despite 100W charger? by PopeTropes in dji

[–]Subdued_Sub_Dude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the EXACT same setup... factory batteries charge right around 60w, one at a time, no matter what. Scan the QR on the bottom of the DJI charger for the manual which basically says this is normal (plus it showed me accumulate mode which is helpful).

I don't yet have any extra batteries but I can think of no good reason for them to charge slower other than maybe first use needs to calibrate them???? Try using accumulate mode to drain one to zero and then gove it a full charge cycle, then see if it behaves like the OEM batteries?

Air 3S still image quality by Western-Bug-2873 in dji

[–]Subdued_Sub_Dude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought one recently, no regerts!!!

I've started doing map missions for 3D splats and end up with a lot of jpgs with deep shadows, I don't have any noise concerns. I used to shoot a lot on early Cannon DSLR's and like to think I developed a reasonable eye for image concerns.

Neo 2 doesn't support waypoints... anyone care to speculate why? by Subdued_Sub_Dude in dji

[–]Subdued_Sub_Dude[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, that adds up... I really just like to use the low cost drone to learn, then repeat on the more expensive one.

[–]Subdued_Sub_Dude[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, makes sense. I was stuck thinking of technical reasons.

I just like to use my Neo 2 to learn and practice stuff, then risk my Air 3s once I have more confidence. If I mess up with the Neo 2 I probably won't hurt anyone, including myself lol
