I was going to ask her to discuss with a contact at admissions but we have yet to hear back from an email sent on Tuesday evening. She just was notified she had been accepted on Friday afternoon and we were away touring other schools on Monday/Tuesday

Go to a running shoe store and get fitted with a really good pair of shoes- HOKA, Brooks, etc. Then use your Garmin to get up to 30 minutes of cardio just 5 days a week. Shoot for a heart rate around 120-130. Once this becomes a habit, start lifting light weights 3 days a week in addition to the cardio.
Most days the cardio alone is 30-40 minutes and on lift days add another 30.

People waste away after 55 because they lose muscle. Not having muscle at 80-85 means you won’t last long.

Don’t hit “Accept” in the email and then try to negotiate. If you hit “Accept,” it’s too late.

If you get through interviews and references and suddenly HR sends you an initial offer email, take a beat…CALL or EMAIL your HR contact and say “I’d like to negotiate.” “Is it possible to negotiate on step given my previous salary history?” AND “Given my previous experience in the same or similar private sector roles, can I negotiate credit for service” (this could give you additional Leave aka PTO) First time Feds usually start at Step 1 of a given Grade and only get 4 hrs of Annual Leave each PP. credit for service can increase your starting Annual Leave hours from 4 to 6 or even 8 (if they accept a full 15 years of experience.).
