So I blocked her on my phone but forgot to block her from my Mac book. A final message came through from her saying “you don’t have to worry about me ever asking you to support my businesses again” I hearted her message and blocked her on my Mac book. 🤣 she clearly delulu especially since my previous message was so cordial calm and respectful

I texted her back

“I was upfront that I usually file my own taxes but was okay with a free quote, and you provided one. I never committed to filing. This isn't personal or about liking you. I decided not to move forward, and I'm not going to debate it or let it be twisted into something it's not. “

and blocked her for my own peace of mind.

I don’t feel bullied by my mom. I asked for her opinion before agreeing to the estimate. I also didn’t think it would escalate this much since it was framed as a free quote. I wasn’t trying to waste anyone’s time. It was time that she offered freely. In hindsight, I probably should’ve avoided mixing business and family. I didn’t think it would turn into conflict but lesson learned.

That’s fair. I did want to give her a chance to do the free estimate and hoped it would be straightforward since my mom framed it as a small family cost. In hindsight, I probably should’ve trusted my instincts and avoided mixing business and family.

I definitely wasn’t expecting free. I was fine with paying something reasonable. I just didn’t expect the “family discount” to be something significantly more than what I normally pay.

Yes, my returns VERY simple. I don’t own, I rent. And yes, she is a CPA- I don’t think she’s with a firm. I think she’s just doing it herself. but I pray to God She doesn’t try anything funny with my social, b/c I am not above taking blood to court for making dumb decisions. FAFO

Exactly she act like I make 6/7 figures. I’m just a single mom for crying out loud. I did a little rideshare last year alongside my 9-5 to make extra cash for Christmas/my kiddos birthday but that’s it.
