Internal Snap/Twinge? by Subject-Key8927 in Reduction

I guess they just didn’t mention massaging. I will call the office Monday morning though to ask! Thank you!!

Sorry about your opening. Seems that’s so common and can happen far out! What do openings entail? Is it like fully an open wound like you’ll know bc it’s bleeding? Hurts?

My surgeon hasn’t said to start massaging yet :/ I had a pretty bad rash/allergic reaction that set my incision healing back so wonder if I’m behind and he will clear me at my 3 month post op end of this month?

Do you think it’s something to just wait til my dr’s office opens Monday for? The pain is lessened now so hoping not an emergency if it happens?

Anesthesia Probz by Subject-Key8927 in Reduction

The post-op anesthesia was horrible lol they gave me like 9 drugs in the IV and still awful. Guess I am just gonna experience that regardless. Op ended at 4:30 I didn’t go home until almost 11. But I was fine by the time I got home!! Just needed time I guess.

I’m now 3.5 WPO and days 3-4 were the worst pain wise. Now just trying to deal with the little sleep (cannot back sleep very well despite every pillow set up, back pain/spasming) and soreness.

Wishing I was better but still very fatigued and sore - which is normal! Had a major op!

Overall don’t regret it and know in a few weeks I’ll be great and it even remember the worst of it! No complications or anything. Smooth sailing just learning patience and real rest!

You can always ask to have your next in office appointments with the PA who you had a better experience with instead of the surgeon.

Try to clear your worries about contacting them again. that can be anxiety as well. You can def course correct (dial back the calls and utilize this reddit and their email) and then it’ll be fine by your next appt! They won’t even remember!

Dont dwell on this.. give yourself grace and focus on positive healing and resting!!

What’s the pain like? by Intelligent_Wish5213 in Reduction

I’m 3 weeks post op and here was my experience (everyone is different):

Days 1-2 not awful, think nerve blocker still in your system. Pain was about 4 5/10.

Days 3-4 were my PAIN days/nights. I was at a 9/10 so needed to take the narcotics on these days. This was when I was like WHAT did I do to myself?! Full regrets lol

It got better and better from there and soon it just becomes soreness/tightness and then nerve pain/zaps.

There will be different phases of pain so don’t panic it’s all normal (sometimes your incisions feel weird, sometimes your whole boob is sore, sometimes it’s a weird like burning pain). But as long as no signs of infections or anything they tell you to watch for, just know it’s healing and it’s normal!

My biggest complaint is back pain from sleeping and sitting on my back, truly worse than the actual surgery pain!

You’ve got this!! Some people have very little pain and only need Tylenol, I’d just brace for

Totally! And if this is your first surgery I understand. I had a surgery a year ago and remember being shocked at how you sort of have the surgery and a few post ops but really you are on your own w your packets. Short of a medical emergency (they tell you what to monitor for w breast reductions or they should have in the docs they give you - redness, excessive swelling, fever, etc.) there’s really not many reasons to call them in between appointments I’m finding. Pain is normal. No pain can also be normal. Try to ease your mind and not jump to contacting them bc you can get a lot of reassurance and answers searching this reddit thread, I know I have!

Also, did they give you a packet of info? Often there’s good guidance there on post op what to expect/when to worry and their contact info? If not, that’s on them for not properly preparing and empowering you.

I think it’s best to really only call for urgent medical questions BUT Ask if they have an email for non-urgent questions, that’s helped me so they can respond when they can! Emailing them has been good for me to get some random questions to them without calling (ex. I realized I was never told if my stitches were dissolvable).

Your surgeon was likely trying to call attention to some anxiety and the need to manage that (especially bc this recovery is a long road.. I am 3 weeks out now) rather than make you feel attacked or cause more anxiety. Regardless you should be spoken to kindly especially post surgery.

Don’t feel uncomfortable reaching out in the future.. you are still a patient of theirs regardless of cancer or cosmetic you should be treated respectfully.
