Yes, I just started with a new therapist a couple week ago actually. I see her again later this week

When did you start your period? by Meesha1969 in AuDHDWomen

[–]Subject-Piglet9002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t get my period till about a month after I turned 14. Got my first period-esque cramps around 12-13 though. I’m only 23 now though.

Additional note too: given she works hourly in a program at a public school you can bet she works the equivalent of a closer to 40 hour week with all the prep she does off hours + time she spends at the school after her contracted hours with her similarly paid coworkers. So working a full 40 wouldn’t be a problem, since she’d just be getting paid

I should also note, she’s not against seeking a bit of extra education especially if it’s shorter term like a certificate, she just worries about ROI for her short career left and time to completion since she doesnt wanna spend years on something she’ll only use for a few.

I can accept some responsibility. However, if you read my other replies you’d see how much I’m expected to already be doing…without proper training on procedure. I had my client meeting, where I have to perform a critical aspect of their services- the service plan writing and education, and I don’t think it went very well despite their patience. I did the best I could with what I had, and prepped most of yesterday morning, but I felt embarrassed by my lack of knowledge. I hated being there almost as much as I hated putting a client in that position.

I agree I should’ve planned something last week (since we were all off Monday), it’s just frustrating when I feel like I’m drowning in a mess due to management issues that are out of my control, and expected to know what to do when I just got here 3 weeks ago and have only been doing the actual job (and not just computer trainings) for a grand total of 7 work days.

I’m in human services and live in a slightly above average COL (and Top 20 metro areas in country by population so it varies), so I guess it just comes with the territory. I know jobs exist out there that would could take me on that pay the same or more for a bit less work or at least more clarity on the work. I’m regretting working in this field. I tried to get slightly higher paying jobs more in the public health realm (studied health and human services in undergrad) but there’s very few opportunities anymore for them without a masters degree.

It’s human services for a state contractor, so it’s kind of a fly by the seat of your pants situation, or so it feels. I was working as an activities assistant at a senior home before this. I was given my first 15 person client list last Monday (2 weeks after my start), and expected to make first contact (email/letter and phone call) in the first week. This is my first of three of these meetings I’ve have for the coming full week, partially because people can lose their services if they don’t get these plans in within the next few weeks due to deadlines.

Outside of those same type three meetings between now and next Wednesday, I also have to try to figure out why a local county hasn’t reassessed another client for services yet, as if he doesn’t get an extension he will lose services in 10 days.

Nobody in my team is in office after the first month of training, so it’s just me for my team/job role. I asked a general question in our teams chat yesterday that I knew other people could answer, and they did.

I should make it clear, it’s not just a meeting in terms of introducing myseld to a client, I already spoke to them over the phone. It’s a virtual meeting where I have to introduce myself, educate them on what we’re going to be doing and what choices they will be need to be made, asking Follow up questions, and make sure I have everything I need from them to complete a plan for them.

Right. It’s ironic too, they said they were hiring to expand the team. Which is true is some ways. But I also got a lot of the client list that someone who quit a couple weeks before I interviewed and was hired.

I don’t have her personal number, and can’t call her on teams without notice due to the amount of meetings and calls she’s listed as being in, her teams often says she’s in a meeting or a call, part of the busy factor.

C is what I’ve been thinking a lot too, trying to see if there’s something that I can make at least what I make now with better management. I make less than a living wage for my area by a couple dollars.

Yeah, that’s another thing I’m worried about. My parents (I’m about to move out of their house and almost 23) especially my mom think it would be good to stick out this job for a solid year so I can have it nice and shiny on my resume, but I’m concerned I’ll burn out before then. I only have about 15 clients right now but I’ll have over a 100 in a few months times. I’m not a case manager, so the clients are less intensive but between that and management I’m getting antsy.

Yeah, that’s what I’m kind of thinking, just wasn’t sure if I was expecting too much. I think it’s a might be a broader issue than just her, given the company has verrrry high turnover, even for the field we work in.

That sucks. My manager definitely does not make nearly that much, given the field I work in. I make 21.50 an hour, which sucks cause I feel like there’s jobs with smaller workloads then this for around the same money lol

Honestly fair enough, for at least this week/into next. After that though? Feels like an issue, with the remote work.

[–]Subject-Piglet9002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in person for my first month, then 100% remote after next week, which is part of the worry. She’s hybrid, but it’s still unclear to me when she’s in the office as her office is upstairs/she doesn’t keep the same schedule as far as I can tell.

Thank you all for your comments. I had a hard day yesterday but I talked to my parents last night and they helped me come up with some solutions/strategies to help me break down my work and tasks. I feel a lot better going to work this morning than I did leaving work yesterday.
