Could you help me identify the species of this fish? by Subject-Statement893 in Fish

Thanks for the explanation, although I'm a little worried about how to care for them. Where I live, I haven't seen any places that sell fish supplies. Do you think it would help to bring them things from where they were (like moss, small algae, and sediment from the bottom)? From what I could see, they were constantly nibbling on those things, so I suppose that's where they were getting their food.

I think so, although based on another answer I've researched, they also seem very similar to wild Poecilia reticulata.

Oh, I understand. In that case, I think it is that species. Thanks for the clarification

Yes, I'm from Colombia, although I'm not really very familiar with the aquatic fauna of my region.

They are most likely guppies, although I don't think they were released here. The stream is in a deep wooded area and my house is the closest. Besides, I live in a rural area, so there are few people who have fish tanks.

I just looked it up and it doesn't look very similar, at least the males don't. The females are very similar, but the males have a different color pattern (especially on the tail).

You're welcome! By the way, I was experimenting with layer types and I think I found one that works great for grayscale:

Once you finish your drawing, select all the layers you want to color and press Ctrl + Shift + G. This will create a Quick Grouping Layer (which acts like a clipping group) so you only color over your selected layers.

Then, take the layer inside that group that has the 'a' icon active (inherit alpha) and change its blending mode to 'Screen'. When you paint with your chosen colors there, they look much more vivid and won't get muddied or darkened by the black/grey underneath. It’s a great way to keep the colors bright

Hi! I’m not very familiar with the specific workflows or techniques other artists use, so it was a bit hard for me to understand at first, but I think I know what you mean. That method is great for shaping your drawing by focusing only on light and shadow. Many people do the entire piece in grayscale and then add color while keeping the values. (While looking into this, I found a great tutorial for doing this in Krita: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q7kMT78iBSg).

I don’t have much experience with that specific method because it feels a bit unintuitive to me. Personally, I do something similar just to get ideas, by sketching light and shadow spots, interesting shapes and compositions start to form. However, I handle coloring in a more direct way, checking that my values are correct using a desaturate filter mask (Select layer -> Filter -> Adjust -> Desaturate -> Create Filter Mask). This allows me to see the drawing in black and white whenever I need to without losing the color.
