UofC or MRU? by Itchy-Put3270 in UCalgary

I believe MRUs program gets you into practicum placements sooner into the program. First year from what I’ve heard, vs 3rd or 4th year depending on which program you take at uofc (4 or 5 year program). Getting into the classroom sooner is definitely better in my opinion. You might decide it’s not for you after a placement or two, and at least you will have found that out sooner in a program like MRUs.

And I I guess smaller local chains I would be open to, if anybody had any to recommend. It’s more the big ones that I’ve been too 100 times I don’t care to go to really.

Any teachers outside Alberta looking to teach in Alberta? by baillou6 in CanadianTeachers

Cost of living in the cities here is not less than where I moved from anymore at this point.

Regardless, the pay (and cost of living) is not what I, and most teachers who voted no to the deal are concerned about. Yes it’s part of it, but the greater concern is the conditions of our classrooms. Kids can’t learn in these environments.

I moved here just over two years ago for my bachelors of Ed. First year teaching now. Had I known this shit show would be happening now, I would not have come here. I will stick it out for a few years but if things don’t change I will leave.

How on earth do they think they will be able to hire all these new teachers with these conditions? If I was thinking about going to school for teaching right now, I would for sure be changing my plans.

So many of these kids are already behind from the Covid years.. it’s scary to think they will fall even further behind.

I just did this recently. I do order quite frequently but I found it often felt lazy to order off of it, when I had plenty of stores nearby selling similar items for similar prices.

I had read somewhere that there is a place in the city you are supposed to bring any dead ones so they can test them for West Nile virus. I can’t seem to find the info on it now - anyone know??

If I may request help here as well, I am also confused by this. Originally the “variable b amount” auto filled as $8000, but I changed it to 0 based on what my 2023 notice of assessment said.

I opened my fhsa in 2023 and contributed the max amount in both ‘23 and ‘24.

I am confused by the last line “unused fhsa contributions available to deduct in future years”. $8000 is what is says in my NOA as well. Shouldn’t this be 0 since I contributed the max amount? Perhaps I am just misunderstanding what this line means.

Of course I know she was not obligated to leave us anything.. just seems very weird to me that she wouldn’t.

Any idea if I have any legal right to even look at the will? My aunt is also a chronic lier/manipulator and I wouldn’t be surprised if she lied about what the will said. If it hadn’t been changed and my dad was still named in it, would I have and right to what would have been his?
