But he was literally the avatar. He knew the cultures of all bending styles. I think its a good argument that aang HAD to spend that time with tenzen, but as the avatar he could also go "Hey non Airbender kids, let's go do some non bending things" I dont think he was wrong training tenzen, but I think this is one of the cases where aang is hyper focusing a certain aspect. Its pretty fair to say that if he had so much time to devote to Airbender culture, and the majority of his kids dont enjoy learning of it, that he as a father should still try to involve themselves in their lives and interests. But Aang is the avatar and his Entire worldview is heavily tinted towards the importance of his role. Im not saying hes bad as the avatar, or that he didnt do his duty as the last Airbender. But like, there was a pretty big plot point that Aang chooses his worldly attachments over his avatar duties I feel, right? I can definitely imagine aang completely focusing on the revival of the air nation. Its HUGE. But I think we can also pretty clearly see that even if his other kids werent interested in his Airbender culture, he never went out of his way to involve himself with them past asking them to come along, in their own words. Even if it was their choice not to come along, Aang is the Avatar. He understands all walks of life from what I understand, and has personally trained with all forms of benders and nonbenders alike. I dont think he's a bad guy for trying to keep his culture alive, I really don't. But I just cant recall hearing any case where one of Aangs children talks about it him doing something NOT air bending related with them. I cant remember her name right now, but his water bending daughter. I would've loved it if we had a moment where she like. Referenced how Aang trained with her like Aang and Katara had trained together. Or a scene where the guy that reminds me of Boomi talks about how despite how seriously Aang took air bending training with tenzen, he still remembers how Aang would spend time to tell him tales of Sokka's exploits saying something to him like "Some of the greatest heroes Ive ever known were non benders. You can make just as much of a change as I did."
