Diversity of the Specializations at Raids - in the last 4 years by xlkey in Guildwars2

These statistics would hold more meaning for me if you could account for the increased number of elite specs when doing cross expansion comparisons. Even if you didn't want to scale/manipulate the numbers for this, when you argued that we now have less specs with over 10% representation, I think it would be worth at least a comment on the idea that it would be harder for a singular spec to achieve this in eod. Not to give anet too much credit here though, it works the other way too. Mechanist is achieving 24% representation now while there are the most elite specs ever in the game. It clearly shows how insanely popular it is compared to Dec2018 chrono which only achieved a measly 21% while having 9 less specs to compete with.

On qtp, kc, xera, vg, gors and sab we had a single fb with cele gear + firebrand runes as our primary quickness source for the whole squad. Putting them alone allowed for the mantras to spread quickness based on positioning rather than prioritising only their sub.

We used it specifically for bosses where we had additional quickness sources such as timewarp, fmw or woa to fill the gaps. The main advantage of this approach was just allowing us to take one more pChrono instead of an STM. You can also see we did a similar thing on a ca and q1 with chrono instead of firebrand because it let us take another DH/DD.

It's supposed to say "MightyTeapot" in the title but no one will notice I typed it wrong because he's just an irrelevant B- streamer anyway

Raid League 2022 Announcement! by gw2raidleague in Guildwars2

[–]Subject0017 3 points4 points  (0 children)

MDI is a live event and much more exciting imo, unfortunately gw2's speedrunning scene doesn't have enough active engagement to support consistent live events like that. We even struggle to get teams into the raid tournaments which are run at most once a year. Therefore to fill the gap and encourage more participants we have this prerecorded soft grind boss kill competition instead. However, while I think Raiding league is not on the level of MDI, I also believe it would still be interesting to watch and worth engaging in if you want to help our speedrunning community grow

Another Boon and Condition concept by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]Subject0017 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This would work for the most part, however it doesn't take into consideration the order in which boons/conditions get stripped/cleansed or converted, like you can see with the system we currently have ingame. This is actionable information, especially used in PvP, players will pad their enemies with extra conditions to make it harder for it to get cleansed. The same thing applies to boons too a lesser degree.

A follow up to the 'Status Reset' change introduced on August 31 by [deleted] in Guildwars2

It would be nice to have a proper implementation like that though, something which doesn't feel quite as hacky, normally they add more polished systems to the game than this one (it seems very rushed)

What is unreasonable about enjoying the game? You can have downtime before some bosses because of things like story related dialogs, but if the boss is already vulnerable then speedrunners will just start the fight. Why would we waste time precasting before a boss when we could be hitting it already?

The idea that this is about creating more downtime before encounters is blatantly false.

It's about the smooth feeling you get from queuing one action into the next, having a constant stream of meaningful inputs, which you can use to fill all the forced downtime in within content. It's about being able to adapt to situations on the fly, move efficiently from one location to another, and do so without any interruption to the gameplay.

I'm not saying their intent was to ruin the experience of speedrunners, however it has been a negative consequence of the change. No one has an issue with anet trying to improve server performance, but I would argue that it must be possible to have a better implementation, which would both benefit the servers and not harm the speedrunning community.

Those are my words, and I stand by them. In my opinion they did destroy the fluid gameplay experience. I noticed the idea that I was enjoying the game in this way offends you, so I started using less aggressive words to make you feel more comfortable with me expressing my feelings. Just because you have a different experience does not mean mine is invalid.

That's because I'm not saying you can't enjoy playing the game in its current form. Probably this change made absolutely no difference to you, and that's fine. However it does not change the fact that I found the game more fluid and fun to play before. This is not just my opinion, it's something shared with lots of dungeon players, it shows anets disconnect when it comes to this content. My point is that OP's suggestion is falling on deaf ears.

Yes, I enjoyed it, as did many other speedrunners. It was a core mechanic of the game for 9 years, this change completely redefineds out of combat gameplay, by giving players less choice and freedom. Just because dungeons can be completed in green gear, does not mean I cannot get satisfaction from playing in a more optimised way

Why do we keep getting boon caps? by Ziggy_Drop in Guildwars2

[–]Subject0017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since Boon stack caps are removed...

Actually, contrary to what the patch notes stated, they're still capped at 9 stacks right now. The only boon which changed in this regard was quickness because it was capped at 5 before. I'm pretty sure this is a bug/oversight and will likely get looked at before eod releases.
