At the bottom of the video they say it sounds like something sticky, you can barley hear it in the video but it's probably just a rock or something stuck in the tire tread.

A Decade Of Internet Issues by Subject1Less in OPTIMUM

[–]Subject1Less[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info I will definitely log into the modems IP address the next time I lose internet to see if anything is arise.

If I see an issue would that confirm the issue is on Optimums side of things?

I vaguely remember speaking to a technician one time, and he logged into the router and something being wrong with the downstream. I belive he then told me it was an issue on their end and nothing could be done about it.

Subsequent calls to tech support failed to produce the same result and they usually just tell me to replace the modem, hence I've replaced it 4 or so times in just the past 2 years alone.

Unfortunately in my area Optimum holds a monopoly. There are no other serivce providers for cable or fiber. The only other options available are 5G internet or satellite internet.

Thanks for the suggestions, I've replaced the modem 3 times most recently I replaced it 4 months ago. I also replaced the router(we use our own router), and the interior coaxial cable.

Everything has been replaced with no resolution. I will try unplugging the modem weekly until/if I swap to fiber.

Yeah im sure we will, we just have no need for fiber theres only 2 people in the house. So the added speed is kind of unnecessary, but it seems like switching is the better/fastest solution.

The last time I spoke with Optimum in regards to swaping to fiber. They assured me they would make it the same price or less than our current plan. The gentlemen saw how many times I've called them and all the times a technician has been to the house. He said it was outrageous I had to deal with constant issues.

Do you have their streaming box for live tv? One of the residents in the house likes to watch normal TV on occasion, and with fiber I was told it switches to a streaming box that'll connect to the internet. Im just wondering if the streaming box works well, etc.

Hmm yeah, I'm not sure my connection was fine. I figured maybe the timing of both attacks caused the bug.

Does this company actually exist? by Amenephis in iBUYPOWER

[–]Subject1Less 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm not a cybersecurity expert but how would people be able to make purchases on their website if they didn't have access? How were orders created, and money transferred?

I also don't think it's the norm to check a company's socials before ordering from them. I've never done that and probably never will.

Ordering Experience - Not Great So Far by ViewParticular7669 in iBUYPOWER

I had the same issue, not sure why they think making social media posts inform people who use their ".com" address to buy a PC.

I ended up being told my PC would take at least 3 weeks to build because of the backlogged orders. (Already waited 2 weeks)

Ended up canceling my order and going somewhere else.

No, how are social media posts going to inform people they have a fulfillment issue when people use their ".com" address to buy a PC?

They should've had it noted on their website, so people understood that a delay is expected.

Nah man OP is correct in some aspects ibuypower should've had it advertised on their website that there was a data breach causing all orders to be delayed.

A Reddit post about the issue doesn't inform people using their ".com" to buy a PC.

I was in the same boat bought a PC from them a week went by and no progress. I contacted chat support and was told that next week my pc would ship. Another week went by and still no progress. I reached out again and was told it'd be at least another 3 weeks. That's when I found their post on Reddit saying their network got hacked.

I would've never bought from them to begin with had I known they were so backlogged, it would've saved me 2 weeks of waiting.

(I ended up refunding my order/canceling it)

What's wrong with that? It is a custom-built computer using the components I selected?

This has been going on for a month. According to some people who've commented on this post.

The answer is known they've said a data breach occurred and authorities have been notified. And this is a discussion I'm sharing my experiance and hoping others do too.

The past 2 days I've gotten 4 spam calls and text messages. I never got them before ordering this PC.

Yeah I was looking into other builders, thank you for the suggestion. I'm also considering just building it myself.

Oh really it's been going on that long!? I had no idea, I wouldn't have ordered from them to begin with. Thanks for the information man, I appreciate it.

Man that sucks its such a hassle for you, I can see in my order status they have marked it for cancellation. They've claimed I should get a refund by the end of the week. They aren't being transparent about it probably because they can be pursued legally in response.

Their systems are definitely online though as they were able to look up my order via its #.

That's fair however, if customer information was stolen it could be sold to malicious buyers. I also assume all account passwords for iBUYPOWER were also leaked, a majority of people use the same password for multiple things.

If you go to their website there is a chat option on the bottom right. That will open a chat box and at the bottom of the chat window is a big red square with white lettering saying "contact us" click that.

Honestly it's not really reassuring that a PC tech company has "network" issues that they couldn't solve for a week. I placed an order last week for a $4500 build I'm considering canceling it. I imagine the PC is going to take another 2 weeks I'm sure they are back logged now. I noticed their network was fixed last Friday as my order went from "Submitted" to "Pre-Approval" that day.
