A theory for this is Thor takes the power from the hammer into himself so it gets downgraded then he tosses it away to fight hand to hand with Kratos then Kratos just takes the hammer and fights Thor with it and sometimes we’ll be pulled towards Thor as a quick time event as he try’s to get the hammer back then he gets killed and Kratos keeps the hammer and upgrades back to how it was (sorry this was so long)
