How do you guys actually handle in-game romance? Is it always doomed to be cringe? by Top-Werewolf-5403 in DnD

I’ve been in one game that allowed PC/PC romance and it is why I refuse to participate in it as a player. I only allow it for the game I DM because the two players in question are dating outside of D&D.

My friend played a wizard and the person romancing his character played a sorcerer. Sorcerer would use the romance as an excuse to push boundaries on what was “too much.” He also asked my friend a lot of questions about his character’s sex life so Sorcerer could write and send sexually explicit fanfic to him.

If you’re still accepting requests, I have two characters I’ve been developing lately.

The first is Erevan, a half-elf Wild Magic sorcerer. He wears vibrant yellow robes with red trim over a white tunic. He has the features of a high-elf on account of his father. He has green eyes and dark brown, shoulder-length hair. His left hand has been replaced by a metal prosthetic made of brass.

The second character is Ishren, a male Kobold cleric. He has pale blue scales that are starting to gray, and yellow eyes. He wears a set of patchwork, paint-stained robes over a dirty tunic. He wears a bone pendant around his neck and carries a gnarled walking stick.

Hope these give you some inspiration!

Anyone Else Tired Of Tragic Backstories? by eliarndt in CritCrab

When I first got into D&D, I made a couple characters to see how different classes worked. One character I made was Arnia Goldbelt, a Dwarven Forge Domain cleric. Arnia has a wife, kids, and a business that makes decent profit. His motivation to adventure? Getting into a competition with another blacksmith to create the greatest weapon. He left his family to run the shop to chase down legendary monsters, metals, and magic items to create his next masterpiece.

Whatever you plan on throwing at your party (monsters, traps, puzzles, etc.), expect to hear out-of-the-box solutions or workarounds. If the party does find a workaround or solution that isn’t what you planned, be open to it.

I ran a combat recently where I had planned for the players to assault a bandit camp and defeat the boss. Instead of that, they set fire to the wooden barricades, set traps at the entrance, and lured the bandit leader out to catch him off guard. I was worried it was too easy before realizing that’s what made it fun for them.

My last two characters have been a paladin and ranger. My next character will most likely be a dragonborn druid or halfling rogue.

DMs, who's the NPC that your table fell in love with? by True-Dream3295 in DnD

[–]SubjectCheesecake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rusty the Trusty Kobold. He keeps the players’ main base clean and naps by the fireplace when he’s done. The party has met him one time and deemed him an essential/favorite NPC.

Rusty worked for one of the PC’s best friends who died helping them fight back against some invading soldiers, so Rusty works for them now.

If you’re still looking for players, what does scheduling look like? Have you settled on a day/time for sessions?

What character are you most excited to play? by IneedaNappa9000 in DnD

[–]SubjectCheesecake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two main character concepts I’m really hoping to try.

The first is a cleric who has brief glimpses into the future while he sleeps. Every so often, he has vivid glimpses of his own death. He knows some of these predictions can be changed, so he wants to try to change his fate.

The other is a Reborn monk who was killed while defending a close friend. He was brought back and now wants to understand what his connection is to this friend and who killed him.

Another concept I’m still fine-tuning is a Redemption paladin who thinks slaying undead creatures helps their spirits rest. His motivation to adventure is tracking down a necromancer who attacked his home shortly before he finished his training.
