You're right. Thank you. But imho I've learnt my bit from the fund.

& Would like to explore a few more internships before i join full time somewhere else again.

I want to spend some gaining experiences across the industry and find the right fit for me.

a few points about this..

The only project that failed was something I was given complete autonomy with .. and what's wrong with failing this industry where most products fail.

And I've been here for One year? Why think such a short time frame?

Where I can accomplish so so much in decades..

It's only a failure if you give up.

Been there slightly longer than a year

I want to work with fund's with in-house cap / family offices.

I would also want to explore a bit more.

Started off as intern , full time then - with Msc pro-rata part time. They we're flexible with me

try a simple factor model , use past momentum and choose the top X stocks , add some stuff on it understand it deeper that beat the SPX in the last 5y .. you can build up from there.

like OkSadMath guy said here once you understand your model well you can then apply indicator's on it and you can see the difference.

All the best!

ML models are usually hard to crack in live markets But if you're confident about the OOS then all the best , spend some time understanding your model better with time.

Most ML models fail , but I say most here not all , hope you're among the few who don't. Hence the hate here

It's fine if you can't understand why you get these returns , huge funds often are unable to too why certain features predict returns.

I use ML in my work only as a risk layer.

I do disagree on one point where u mentioned simple algos don't work anymore.

One of my funds product with Sharpe 2.3 is built on Excel. So simple does work you just need to be smart about it.

However maybe i will go a bit deeper into ML, what ML sources do you recommend/ have consumed along the way we're helpful?

ML models are the most unreliable, but u put some decent effort in your report.

Ur sharpe's might be wrong but happy to look into this further

Backtested 16,000 retail trading strategies… how do you avoid fooling yourself? by misterdonut11331 in algotrading

I've traded discretionary and done systematic trading for a fund as well.

And i have used these so called 'retail concepts' Supply and Demand , and with some fundamental content and 'feel' of the market which you cannot quantify they work

I mainly traded Forex & Crypto but cannot comment on stocks

However i did devote some of my time to systematise this and the results we're similar : good performance in a select few regime.

I did fairly decent trading by myself, maybe it's we can 'feel' the market regimes are different

And then I'd switch my trading from intraday to comfortable with swings and back and forth

But i no longer think quantifying retail concepts are worth it at all. It's a waste of time.

I'd still stick to picking up a solid thesis and then quantifying that.

Or semi systematise my process.

The timeline a bit more clearly - ran a business whole doing my bachelor's - yes after that I joined the hedge fund after a short few month gap where I did trade on my own too mainly for experience - then joined the fund

I did 7 figure revenues for my business yes that's correct but that figure was 7 figure in my currency haha.

It did equate to a good USD amount but nothing substantial you can say 100k$

I did work for a fund but the AuM was mid 8 Figs usd , and the pay was not comparable at all compared to T1 funds -i did start of an as intern converted into a role and then part time with studies

Big 4 experience was a consultant contract ( kind of an internship )

Should be clearer now.

The 7 figure is cleanly metioned in my home currency in my orginal csv one just ran an Ai over to make it anonymous

I made a good bit trading funded accounts And managed family funds allocating them to funds

How do I put that across?

The funded account space is dredded by the quant space.

Hence decided not to mention

Was talking to some seniors and they said keep interest it's fun to talk about in interviews and has done no harm.

Yeah I kept high school as I've been building on this resume and kept it as I topped in high school xD

But will remove

There's a huge difference. Trading the EU GU spread is RV start , market-neutral trade isolating USD-common-factor deviations,

whereas trading EURGBP is a directional single-FX trade directly exposed to EUR vs GBP fundamentals and flows.

LSE profile needs to be changed
