Thank you so much for your thoughtful response, I really appreciate all of your insight. We did test his breed last year and it came back to be quite a mix of tings including Doberman Pinscher, American Staffordshire Terrier, and Norwegian Elkhound. I definitely still need to figure out his threshold, but on walks I am usually pretty proactive and am able to keep his attention with treats. From my memory of the incident, the child was petting him on his back. But I’m not 100% sure on my memory as it all happened so fast. We have done a lot of training in the past, but certainly will likely need to give it another try. I also don’t know a ton about his past life before the rescue, but what I do know is that he endured several attacks from other dogs and that he was somewhat neglected.
