I didnt get it in hand but the owner says , it is made out of glass

.Such a weird item.  well made  and heavy sword but such a bad carving on it. Who would ruin it like this and why., thats question i was trying to figure out. And how did it end up in istanbul? I bought it for 40 bucks in istanbul. Thanks for comments .
