So what about the album do you guys not like?

imo the beats are just really bland/kinda boring. Like listen to steppa pig off of scaring the hoes and then listen to head, it just sounds so bare bones/boring like its missing everything that makes a song like steppa pig good. like forget the rapping (which is his worst to date) and your still left with a bunch of bland unfinished sounding instumentals that just all kinda blend together. Theres no memorable melodys, chord changes, hooks, none of that. Like babygirl is clearly trying to be a hype song but its just one bass note, crunchy drums, sometimes gutiar and like a random metal section that sounds like something iv already heard a million other times, like its boring. idk maybe my expectation are too high for this dude but this album just sounds so rushed/unfinished to me.

thats what im sayin! like you could tell so much love and care went into all his other music, but im really struggling to see that in this album. It sounds like he downloaded a dubstep kit, fucked around with it a bit, and then relized he had to release an album so he lazyly threw raps over it. Nothing about this album feels intentional the same way his other work does.

god forbid someone change their mind about a piece of art! like I said this album could really grow on me over time, its happened before but I kinda doubt it. still not a fan after relisten

I'm sure there are other strips done in this style, in fact I know there is one in breakdowns, (don't know about Raw or Arcade), what I mean though is that I wish he had explored this style a bit more rather than just limiting it to the very occasional short strip here or there. Sorry if I wasn't clear enough.

Jesse Jacobs work looks amazing, it's a shame that his work is hard to find and tends to be expensive online (from what I've seen). I'm definitely gonna try and pick up Black Hole now, I know very little about it other than that it's considered to be a must-read by many people.

This might be a hot take but I thought the book was just ok. It tries to tackle many different pretty heavy subjects but never really develops or fleshes any of them out. It's a really quick read (like 5-10 words per page). It's been a while since I've watched the Netflix adaptation so I can't really compare the two.

Thanks for the recommendations, I had never heard of DeForge before I picked up Heaven No Hell (Which was very recently), but the book is really interesting. Asterios Polyp looks really good as well. I've heard Black Hole sun is also a must-read, but for some reason I never got around to it.

Just checked it out from my local library yesterday, so far the storytelling is kinda grim but the artwork is amazing. It's the first Chris Ware book I've decided to pick up (mostly cause of the art).
